750 ml bottle poured into a Cantillon balloon glass. Label reads bottled January 2009, but I'd take that with a huge grain of salt since this is De Cam we're talking about (label also read 37.5 cl, which obviously was incorrect).

Appearance: Pours a deep ruby red color with less than a finger of a pink head that dissipates quickly to a thin collar. Body is hazy but still translucent.

Smell: Cherries, barnyard funk, hay, damp oak, and a hint of vanilla.

Taste: Medium lemon like sourness followed by lots of cherry. After that are notes of hay, funk, oak, hint of cranberry and vanilla. Really intense juicy cherries are what stand out most.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a soft almost creamy mouthfeel and medium, fine carbonation. Finishes tart and mostly dry.

Overall: Really excellent kriek. Tons of sour cherry character with just enough funk to keep it balanced. Drinks great as a cherry bomb now, but I'll be interested to see how it progresses with further aging. Seek this one out.

Aug. 2014: 750 ml "champagne" green bottle, as De Oude Cam Exclusief Oude Kriek, bottled January 2009. ABV is 6.5%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Beautiful red colour, moderate pink head. Intense and lovely aroma of sour cherries, farmhouse and almonds / marzipan. Relatively light bodied. The flavour is quite sour, but not extreme. Sour cherries of course, not very sweet, with a dry finish.

Bottle from Etre shared with Paul, thanks for the cookout.
Lightly hazy dark red in color with a light white head that dissipates quickly. Lemony tart and earthy funk with huge sour cherry aroma and flavor.

Bottle imported from Belgium at a surprisingly affordable price.

Pour is a bit still for the style, but nonetheless a gorgeous an inviting dark, cherry red.

Aroma is a wonderful blend of tart cherries, horse blankety yeast funk, lemon, and some oak. Not picking up any of the hoppiness others have mentioned, but there's still an awful lot going on and the combination is fantastic.

The flavor is excellent. Even busier than the aroma, but at no point cloying or overwhelming. The cherries are, surprisingly, most present in the finish, which is sweet and juicy in the vein of New Glarus' Belgian Red. Up front, there's more of lactic tartness combined with some lemon nodes. This tartness permeates the rest of the sip, with barnyard hay coming in toward the middle, and chewy bread yeast combining with fresh cherry juice on the back end.

Very much a top tier kriek. Absolutely worth hunting down.

A 375ml corked and caged bottle, 2019 vintage, with a best before date of July 2040. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.

Appearance: A mostly clear ruby red with a very thin slightly pinkish head that disappeared almost immediately, while leaving only sparse to no lacing.

Aroma: Lightly tart, cherry, cherry skin, oak, with light funky notes.

Taste: Sour, tart, cherry, oak, citrusy lemon, lightly funky.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall: It’s a good kriek with lots of cherry and a nice citrusy bite. The funky notes could have been more pronounced.

Pouring clear ruby but filling to a dark garnet, its short pastel pink head audibly fizzles out to a silky clean surface. Barely any sediment spills out of the glass on a full vertical pour.

In aroma, there's that crackery goozy-tude with aged resinous hops and funky oak, all of which contrasts drastically with the taste, which is the fruitiest de Cam I've had.

Starting off as gooey luxardo cherry, it develops even more into that cinnamon spiced marzipan characteristic found in the best krieks.

The crisp and crackly medium body recedes down to a smooth fluid bringing us back into a juicy, lighter cherry flavor before the semi-dry finish. A hint of this unusual vegetal yet also charred flavor comes out in the exhale, where the underlying lambic reveals itself more as well, but this is only hinted at, as it's definitely a cherry showcase overall. A little lactic cheesiness surfaces as it warms.

Expiration date 2040.
Color of beet with a thick pink head with good retention.
Aroma with notes of sour cherries, barnyard, raspberries, earth and lemon funkiness.
Sour and refreshing flavor with notes, sour cherries, mild funky acid, lemon, raspberries, oak, spices, tea leaves, dark fruits and grapefruit. Dry aftertaste with a lemony finish over a faint red fruit.
Medium body that feels lighter with perfect carbonation of tiny bubbles.
This is likely the best Kriek I ever had; I wouldn’t change a note to it. Very elegant. And despite de intense red color, the cherry does not necessarily run the show. This attenuation has enabled this beer to reveal a good complexity, but still it is assertive. The whole bottle went down quickly. It is not as vinegary-sulfuric as the others I had. Very approachable at the beginning and the sourness increasingly takes over.
Lots of lemony and grapefruit tartness with red-dark fruits in the background.

750ml bottle bought online and shipped from Belgium. Dark red color. Aroma is fruity. Tasty kriek flavors but honestly I thought the Kriek Lambiek was better.
