Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie...

Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Nice hazy, dark-gold color. Not much of a head. Light to medium scents of pomegranate, pineapple and melon. Nice taste. Very balanced with good flavors pine, orange, grapefruit, lime and peach. Taste changes from the front palate to the back in a very cool way. At first I thought I would be disappointed with the taste after the nose, but the taste really surprised me. Light to medium body. Fun beer.

12 ounce bottle poured into a tulip

A: Pours a clear golden orange color with a white head, not much lacing or head retention, little bit of carbonation streaming up the side.

A: Lots of grapefruit aroma, pine, papaya, slight malt on the backend, smells promising.

T: Flavor does not live up to the aroma, subtle notes of grapefruit peel, pine, and papaya, malt is not as present in the taste as in the aroma, finish has lingering notes of citrus peel.

M: Light/medium bodied with a dry citrus peel-like finish.

O: A middle of the road of IPA, grapefruit peel, pine, and papaya are the most prevalent notes, doesn't really punch with flavor, but it's drinkable, I would not seek this out at all but I would not refuse one if offered.

Pours a clear darker yellow golden color with white head. Light citrus, grass, cereal grain, and some pale malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a bland mix of light citrus and malt. I think this wants to be more of pale ale than an IPA.

Clear golden pour. Very clear, little visible carbonation or head. Nice clear coloring, but quite flattish.
Smells of zesty lemon/ orange citrus, some bready malts.l and just a hint of dankness.
Taste is a nice take. Cracker malts and light resin with citrus-forward hops.
Medium feel and crisp. Nice bitterness.
Solid IPA in general, as the tea-like malt profile backs up the hops in tasty fashion. Nothing I'd seek out again for drinking beer just to drink beer, but something I'd order any day or night to go with a burger, or with Mexican food.

First had at Steve's Greenhouse Grill, Phoenix, on draft into tumbler. This is a different American IPA, lighter on malt and body, but it doesn't overwhelm with citrus. A welcome take on the American IPA, and desert-friendly.

Shocked to hear this beer is in airports.
Not an airport beer.
14K 1800's Calico gold mine shaft with an LA sunset, little bit of chem-trails on top.
Lacks a bit on the nose but whatever, it makes it up in the taste department like a full blown bone stock Grand National on high test.
Yes and the lacing is incredible if you know how to drink beer.
