Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.70%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Hop Knot IPA is made only from American malt and lots of American hops, which produce a big, broad-shouldered, hoppy beer backed up by a character as warm as, well, Mom and apple pie...

Hop Knot IPA get its peculiar name from the weaving of four different hops added at four separate times during the brewing process. Including our cavernous hop-back, which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops that we feel genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is an ale that is to be enjoyed with friends, spicy food or any time you need a good hop fix without the harsh bitterness. We hope you enjoy this pioneering beer made in the bold spirit of Americans everywhere.

Received as an extra in a trade. Canning date of 08/09/15 on the bottom.

A - Poured into my Duvel tulip a lightly hazy honey hue with a one finger white head that fades slowly to leave a thin blanket and light lacing.

S - Aromas of malt sweetness, very faint floral hops, super light citrus.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Lots of very light floral hops. The citrus is incredibly faint and subdued. Same goes for any bitterness. There is some light malty sweetness. Everything is very subtle, to the point that it is almost bland tasting.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, comes across as somewhat thin and watery.

O - Overall when the can popped it smelled pretty solid, but once things settled in the tulip all the aromatics just disappeared. What was left was just a very bland, watery, underwhelming beer. Maybe if it was an APA a little could be forgiven, but as an ipa....very disappointing.

Thanks to Eric for this one!
Light orange, little bit hazy, thin layer of foam that lasts for a few sips. Spotty lace and collar around the edges. Decent bit of lacing.

Aroma is pungent and grapefruity, then tapers off after the initial blast.
Taste is full of orange and grapefruit, dry and bitter with a bruised citrus edge.

Light bodied with light carbonation, easy drinking with a supple feel.
Overall it's a nice IPA, and I'd look for it when in the Southwest.

Definitely a great looking and great tasting IPA. Four Peaks is a great brewery and this beer is an excellent example of their prowess. Taste is balanced between hops and wheat nearly like a white IPA but not quite. It's just robust enough to let you know it's an IPA but it's gentle enough to enjoy time and time again. Outstanding, really and I highly recommend it

Floral piney notes and a smooth finish make this a beer I can drink all day!

Had this on 2015-06-21 in Phoenix, AZ at their pub at the airport. On tap

Grapefruit and floral aroma. Citrus and pine flavor. Decently bitter.

Delightful discovery of a trip to Arizona.
Very bummed to find that it is not available in the area where I live.
