Trying this outside of ASU campus at Devil's Advocate. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The had hints of sweet malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink.....nice caramel malt base. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a solid beer.

Very good Scottish-Style Ale. Smells a little heavy but it's not at all once you start drinking it. Very disappointed that they sold out to Budweiser; but I still feel they're the best craft'r in the Phoenix area.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a St Arnold barrel glass.

Look is a deep dark amber with gold highlights and no head.

Aroma is pure sweet roast malt with not much hops.

Taste is again straight malt, lots of deep layered sweetness. Really true to style.

Love AZ, and wanted something local. Chosen because of the name, Kilt Lifter definitely had my attention. Poured cold, it was a red brown color, a bit like the bottle. The head was small, not very frothy, and dispersed quickly. The smell is mild and pleasant. This was a very great, well rounded beer! Very American, an exemplary Arizona brew!

Pint-sized can - canned on 01/04/17 stamped on bottom:

Pours dark amber to copper with a thin head that soon dissipates to a wisp. Little lacing sticks.

The smell is of caramel, peat, spiced medium-dark fruit.

The taste is of peat, caramel and figs/dates. Sweet balanced by mild peat smoke and a touch of tart dried fruit.

It has a smooth, creamy texture.

A nice representation of a malty Scottish-style ale!

Pours a red to copper in color with virtually no head. Fair looking carbonation when rocking the glass. The aroma is sweet caramel, malty, and a slight smokey/peat presence. The flavor is the same as the aroma. The beer has a nice full rich flavor, average carbonation, medium feel, and is overall, dry. It's better tasting than it looks in this glass, for sure, but nothing crazy great.

Amber red to light brown in color with impeccable clarity. One finger of off white foam that recedes to a small ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is caramel, toast, and rich malt presence. Delightful and classic to the style. Flavors follow, with a little spicy earthiness from the hops as well. Very well balanced. Medium body, moderate-high carbonation. Slightly bitter, slightly dry finish. A very well done scotch ale.

Reviewing from both tap and bottle.

A: Lightly-hazed molasses color, with a creamy head and lacing.

S: Malty, bready, hints of fruitiness and toffee, some nuttiness, faint dark fruits (raisin).

T: Same as the nose, malty and fruity with notes of caramel, toffee, fig, raisin, and sweetness.

MF: Creamy and light/medium bodied.

O: A decent and easy drinking Scotch Ale. Not enough going on to revisit.
