The beer pours a cloudy reddish brown color with a thick frothy white head that slowly to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a solid raspberry scent with a faint jalapeno aroma. It's interesting for sure. The taste is decent. It has a nice raspberry flavor that's tart as well as earthy. It goes down easy with a mild jalapeno warmth. I like the contrast of flavors. The mouthfeel is decent as well. It is a medium bodied beer with less than adequate carbonation. This is a good drinking beer with lots of character. It needs some sprucing up, but it's a solid offering.

Bandwagon's Raspberry Jalapeño Ale has a cloudy brown body with shades red. There is only a touch of head that doesn't last long at all and leaves no lacing behind.

The aroma has a bunch of raspberry with a bit of jalapeño

I definitely like the mix of flavors in Raspberry Jalapeño beer, the slight, fruity tartness complements the heat and flavor of the jalapeños very well. Raspberry comes first, with a hint of hops along with it. The jalapeño flavor is next, and the heat from the pepper is strongest in the finish and aftertaste.

The mouthfeel of this one is a problem. The moderate body is ok, but like the anemic head suggested, the carbonation is too low.

Overall this beer is a great concept with a decent flavor that lacked a bit in execution.

Drank a pint of this when it was one of two best tastes of the generous free 2-ounce tastes I had of all five BW brews the Bandwagon had on tap Friday night. Maybe by the time I got there it had gone stale, as it had no head at all, very cloudy murky reddish brown gloomy look with not a single bubble rising. (Their Scotch Ale had gone equally flat that night, but at least this fruity beer had a delish smell to it.) Smell was very inviting, with four of my favorite odors: beer, berry, yeast, chili. Taste was thin around edges of chocoberry candy sweetness, a metallic rinsewater sadness slightly mitigated by a pretty tasty yeast. Mouthfeel dreadfully flat and dead, a bit soapy. After taste hints at chili heat, but I'd rather get that from a chili chocolate candy (Aldi sells a Moser Roth chili chocolate bar I love, this making me think this ale would be a flavor I could appreciate more.) Would not drink more of this if begged to; shared it with wife who didn't complain much. Bandwagon bar ran out of their Black Pepper Porter while I was trying to drink this Raspberry Jalapeno Ale; wish they'd run out of this RJA before I got there. Maybe plumbing in this tap line needs a higher pressure carbonation? I know it's tricky avoiding a too-fizzy beer, but this ale was dead flat. Sad.

The beer clearly picked up a lot of red luster from the raspberries, but doesn't maintain a thick head. The beer smells like intensely flavorful jalepenos, which carries over into the beer's flavor profile... And dominates. I was expecting myself to be reminded of a winey vinegarette, but this is definitely a beer. I wish the beer packed more heat, but everything is on point otherwise. Totally worth the $3 and highly recommended.
