Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is an unfiltered Belgian Style Blonde Ale. The beer is blonde in color from the pale malted barley varieties. It is delicately hopped with Styrian Golding and Celeia for medium bitterness and aroma. Sugars are added for higher attenuation, following the practices of some Belgian brewers. Belgian ale yeast is used to add complex flavor esters. This beer is unfiltered and yeast is left in for additional conditioning. The beer is named Fatale because it is 8.5% alcohol by volume and will catch up with you if you’re not careful.

I love this beer. A shame Iowa wasn't producing these great beers when I was living there but it makes my trips back to see family much more enjoyable. So many great breweries. This beer stood out at my tasting of it at the Iowa State Fair, where they had a tent featuring a sampling of the great Iowa breweries.

Fruity Belgian style with a bit of coriander. I actually think this beer benefitted from a warm day, I found it refreshing, whereas many traditional Belgians I prefer to drink in fall and the cooler months. Definitely worth a try and a relatively affordable compared to the traditional Trappist Belgian imports that I absolutely love.

Pour had a low head, maybe 1/5 inch.
nice blonde peachy color.
smelled like a typical Belgian. lightly fruity and a touch of malt
Taste is pretty smooth with a bit of a kick. light banana and apricot.
mouth feel was smooth but has a slight burn going down after a few sips b/c of the 8.5% but not bad for that level. Def a Belgian you can taste in you cheeks and gums which is what I love so much about them.

Overall a very good Belgian style for a micro brew.

Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Extremely murky dandelion color. F

rothy, prolific white head; decent lacing throughout.

Nose of bananas, clove & pear. The Belgian yeast is not hiding.

Medium mouthfeel, bordering on light.

Taste is much fruitier than the nose; the pear asserts itself strongly in front. Light hop bite on the back end, but not abrasive; a nice balance. Banana/clove is present in the ether, but this is much more of a spring drinker than the nose led me to believe. Delicious.

Looking Belgian from the get, with a beautiful fuzzy peachy apricot color, and a 2 finger head that settles to a thick ring @ 1/2 finger. 100% opaque.

Aromas of fresh yeast, orange marmalade, bubble gum, and fusel alcohol. Some lingering smells of cantaloupe and honeydew.

Flavor...um....holy cow?! It starts with a harsh wall of stale alcohol, but after that...just waves of Belgian goodness. Juicy Fruit gum, stone fruits...namely cherry, peach, apricot; then the yeast and malt sets down nicely. The most delicious cantaloupe aftertaste just settles in upon first taste, I'm finding myself involuntarily grabbing for a napkin to wipe my mouth, dead serious. Nicely done.

Feel is intensely carbonated, with little swabs of creaminess here and there. A dry, musky, fruit-like finish wraps it up.

Overall, Fat Blonde Ale is totally worth what little hype it gets. Probably the best beer from Peace Tree.

Iowa local beer. Surprised how good it was. A little sweet but not bad.

Had this beer on tap at a restaurant in Mason City. It was flat, didn't enjoy the mouthfeel on this one and it seemed thick and very boozy, almost like cough syrup. Can't say I enjoyed it much
