A: Poured into a snifter to a deep red topped by a finger and a half of dense light tan head that fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of sweet caramel, vanilla and oak with some slight spicy hop aroma
T: The taste on this one is spicy up front with some oak, caramel and vanilla. The rye barrel is fairly dominant. Swallow is a little alcohol, more caramel, vanilla and oak with some lingering spicy rye whiskey.
M: This beer is a little heavier than medium in body with a slightly oily feel. Carbonation is just slightly prickly while the beer has a semi-dry finish
O: Overall not bad. Decent complexity and flavors. Definitely not a Flanders Red by any stretch of the imagination. As a barrel aged American Red it does alright. Good, but not worth seeking out.

Had this on draft.

Murky rust color; barely see through.

Small off-white head; no lacing.

Strong whiskey smell, caramel undertone.

Thin mouthfeel.

Tastes like the world's smoothest whiskey; no wincing here. A triumph of barrel aging.

L (4.25) - Nice amber/reddish coloration here. A little bit of dirty white head.
S (4) - Not a whole lot of aroma here. A little bit of the whiskey, maybe.
T (4.25) - Solid tasting beer. I'd really recommend this to someone who isn't sure about barrel aged beers, as the whiskey melds with the beer quite well. That being said, the beer taste isn't too strong either. A nice mellow amber taste.
F (4.25) - Good drinkable beer. Not particularly bitter, and carbed about right.
O (4.25) - This is a solid beer all around. I'm not sure people will line up to trade this around the world, but it's a solid barrel aged offering from a solid brewery.

Not a Flanders red by any means. But it's a great beer with tremendous bourbon flavor. Very light bodied for barreling.

A nice barrel aged ale. Great balance! The best, if not only, aged red ale I have had. On tap in Oskaloosa.
