From notes 5/11/13: Pours a clear deep gold producing 1.5 fingers of rapidly fading, white, finely bubbled foamy head that leaves little lacing. Aroma is subdued citrus and pine, overwritten by a vegetable/faintly cabbage like essence with faint hints of caramel and cotton candy. Taste is thin grapefruit and pine with semisweet caramel malt that intensifies in sweetness with time. Finishes clean, dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with a strong carbonation bite.

Had at Dreamland, Tuscaloosa, poured from 12-oz. can, no date, into clear plastic beer cup.

Fruity, spicy, and malty, Naked Pig is an interesting and drinkable APA.

16oz globe glass.
Pours clear, golden. Very little head, no lacing. Strong malt build, very little aroma of anything else. Tastes of strong malts, and very little hops. Creamy MF, with no bite, but has a long mild bitter aftertaste.
This was not one of my highlight beers. Trying to remain objective, I found it bland and in need of something to kick it up a notch or two.

Naked Pig has a thick, spongy, slightly off-white head, a mostly clear, orange appearance, with a bit of glass lacing globs. Aroma is faint, but white bread and citrus can be detected, with a strong inhalation. Taste is of mellow bitterness, citrus (tangerine?), white bread, white bread crust, and mild caramel. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Naked Pig finishes medium dry. Similar to Audible Ale, in flavor, but with a more robust alcohol aspect.

Best by 7/24/17

A: Pours a clear gold with a tall frothy white head. Good head retention and soapy lacing.

S: Grassy and some tropical fruits. Very sweet grains.

T: Whew, very odd. Huge hop bitterness but very little actual hop flavor. Just indistinct bitterness. Somewhat sweet grainy malt. Literally cringing at the weird flavorless bitterness.

M: Light bodied, very bitter.

O: I poured it out after three sips.

It pours a light yellow hazy color and the smell is of a slight hippy note. Taste is malty to start off then a bit of bitterness at the end. Mouthful is medium and we'll balanced. Overall better than I expected.

Poured a left a one inch off white head. Smelled very very malty and tasted the same. It was almost sweet, I think that is partly due to the fact the bottle I had was over six months old. Left no lacing at all sadly. It was pretty good, and I'm sure would have been better a little fresher.

Pours a hazy yellowish orange. Creamy white head and little floats that settle at the bottom of the glass after a few minutes. Smells hoppy but not extremely. Smells like oranges and malted barley. Tastes very similar with a great balance. I could drink this with some BBQ. Medium body and carbonation. Give this one a try

Light copper color with white cap.

Aroma of malt and citrusy hops. Not a whole lot of either but enough to notice.

Flavor is malt forward, and rather nice malt, with hops making their appearance mid palate then growing in intensity to the finish with a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Slightly more than average lingering bitterness.

Medium texture with a bit more carbonation than needed.

The malt bill is good with a solid roundness and good depth of flavor that is marred by the offsetting hops. Not that they were the wrong hops just that they didn't meld well. Like somebody poured the wrong sauce on the entree. Or the wrong finish on the furniture, something like that.

Picked it up while at the grocery store while staying in Tuscaloosa. Kind of disappointed in it. Store only had two local brews and this was the most expensive--not necessarily a sign of quality, but in a pinch and with a solid review on here I figured I'd give it a go. Not for me. Kind of bland, not a lot of flavor. Expected it to be more bitter than it was. Not a great profile.

12oz can. Poured out a pale, golden color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of toffee, caramel and piney notes. A little too malty for an APA with a mild bitterness.

My backlog is such that I CAN't tell you where this one came from. It may have been Uncle JedI or someone else. I don't know, but I thank whoever got it for me.

From the CAN: "Craft Brewed Liquid Folk Art"; "Recommended Food Pairings [depictions of ham, steak and pizza]"; "This medium-bodied Ameri[CAN] Pale Ale is delightfully crisp and hand crafted. The Munich malts provide a perfect balance to the five fresh hop additions that go into every batch. Smooth enough for any craft beer newcomer, yet complex enough for even the most discerning [CAN]noisseur. SO, GET NAKED AND ENJOY!"

I Crack!ed it open and CANducted a gentle Glug due to its age. I still got a finger of foamy, bone-white head with moderate retention from it. Color was a slightly hazy Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose had a grassiness underlain with a biscuit maltiness. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was initially citrusy, like sweet mandarin oranges, but as the biscuit maltiness kicked in, it became more like a liquid muffin. It was certainly tasty and the finish was semi-dry. It is like I remarked in an earlier review of the same APA style - it was not knock your socks off in terms of its hoppiness, but I find that to be a pleasant change of pace. I probably would not want a steady diet of this Pig, but it was a nice enough beer.

Poured from a freshness dated can: slightly hazy, deep golden-orange with a foamy white head. Some floating sediment observed.

There was a faint, sweet and fruity aroma that was short-lived.

According to the freshness date stamped on the bottom of can, my ale was several months old. I believe the ale did suffer some from the age. The ale did maintain an initial refreshing and zesty flavor but the aftertaste was slightly stale. The ale has a delicious, mango flavor and a nice solid malt backbone. The flavors are fleeting as the odd, stale aftertaste takes over.

This medium bodied ale has a soft, rounded mouth feel with moderate carbonation. The mild, fruity flavor profile does linger on the palate.

I am going to seek out a fresher six pack as I am sure this ale is much better fresh. It is hard to believe this is a 6% ABV ale as it is very quaffable. My joy at trying my first "Alabama" beer was tempered somewhat when I discovered it was brewed and canned in Sterling, Virginia.

Look - pours a nice orangey amber, great head retention.

Smell - malty with slight traces of citrus hops.

Taste - slight hop bitterness, and bread. Overly balanced if you ask me. For other styles I'd really like this but found myself wishing for more hops since it's a pale.

Feel - smooth and highly drinkable. Would be great as a session beer.

Overall - wanted a bit more in the hop profile but solid none the less.

This is a light beer with an aroma hint of floral and fruit. Just enough hop for a good flavor. Balanced throughout. Like Lays potato chips, can't drink just one.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the TacoMac in Douglasville, GA. The beer has a pale yellow color with a really great aroma. The flavor brings a slight citrus flavor with a little bit of hoppiness. I really like this beer and I recommend that you try it if you can find it.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Light orange with a 1/2-finger head
S: A mixed bag of grain, fresh bread and a light hop note
T: Grain and a hint of hops. Clean but no complexity
M: Light bodied, crisp
O: I could easily knock back a few of these on a hot day. Probably perfect for Alabama but overall that comes at the cost of lacking much complexity. Needs the hops to strut their stuff a bit more

A - Pale orange color. Crystal clear. Minimal head and lacing

S - Mild - almost bland. Certainly not the hoppiness that you would expect from a pale ale

T - Slight hints of citrus - about the only pale ale characteristic of this beer

M - Decent mouthfeel. No bitter after taste

O - Seems more like a lager to me (except with the hints of citrus), but went down well on a hot sunny day on the beach

Bottle in trade with Burg. Thanks man! Pours clear golden with a half finger white head. Aroma much like a pils surprisingly (until I heard that they used German malts here, then it made sense) with some hay, light fruity hops, a bit of caramel. Not bad smelling. Flavor is OK with light hay and hops and a definite German influence here. A bit more caramel tones than a pils, though the flavor is a bit watered down like with their IPA, both of which seemed to be going on the session strength direction rather than the flavor direction. Light bodied with low to medium carbonation for the style. Not bad. Maybe a gateway beer for some to the good stuff.

This is a pretty good beer for the most part. I think it goes better with food though because for some reason everytime I have this beer by myself, I want to have something to eat with it. I often jokingly call it "high quality Alabama bud light platnium" because it's as strong as a bud light platnium but it taste significantly better although it's a medium bodied beer as oppose to being a light beer. I love the aroma this beer has for some reason. I often wonder if this would be a good beer to cook with because of the smell and it's not too heavy or too light which is what I like in a beer when using it as an ingredient. However my biggest complaint with this beer is the price. At $11 or so dollars a 6-pack, this is definitely not my to go to beer. You can get a 6-pack of Sierra nevadas that taste just as good if not better for $8.99 and this is not a good first choice of a beer for those on a budget. However this is a good choice of beer if you got a little bit of extra cash to burn and your having a pizza with a small group of friends.
