Style: American Double / Imperial Pilsner

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.60%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The name's inspired by the Cascade hop, of course, and this one's were grown in Yakima Valley. Hop lineup? "Cascade, Perle, Falconers. And more Cascade." Lagers aren't supposed to taste like this. At least, that's what one curmudgeonly dark corner of your head might say while the rest of you gets the hop tingles. Sudwerk's Cascaderade is a dank, juicy, generous take, while the lager fermentation means there's less fruitiness to get in the way of the Cascade additions.

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2 fingers of pearl white head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Some citrus & grass, breadyness once warm

T: Grassyness, grapefruit rind & a little aspirin up front, a little breadyness too. Grassyness & woody hops along with breadyness & pears as this warms. Finishes with grassy hops, dryness & woody hops, plus a little pine

MF: Medium body with firm carbonation, okay balance

Drinks okay, but not too impressed by this, their other IPL is much better

Decent head and body. Nice color with corresponding wafting smell. Ahhhh fuck it... an overall decent tasting IPA. Not too special but not too bad. Worth a try.

A: The beer is clear yellowish amber in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving a short head covering the surface and bits of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of grapefruit hops are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of grapefruit hops and a moderate amount of bitterness. The grapefruit lingers through the finish. Underlying hints of pilsener malts are also noticeable.
M: It feels medium-bodied, clean, and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer exhibits nice aromas and flavors of hops while retaining the underlying properties of a pilsener.

Bottle. Awesome name. Poured a clearer, dark yellow. I smell a ton of Cascade hops, sweet malt and pungent Lager yeast. Flavor is very hoppy. Very floral, piney and citrusy. It's a bit too sweet for my taste and the Lager yeast is very vocal on the finish. The hop/yeast/malt combo sorta clashes. This is a beer that tastes best during the first sip then quickly depreciates. Body is fuller than I would have expected. Interesting but definitely a bottle I would share.
