Brewed by:

Style: American Double / Imperial Pilsner

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
This 9% lagered behemoth is brewed with Galaxy, Simcoe, and something called Summer hops. The lattermost are predominantly (exclusively?) Australian-grown and rather low in bittering alpha acids. They're known for giving apricot and melon flavors and aromas, and, while they may not prove as pungent as tropical Galaxy and piney Simcoe, throughout this they seem to offer some highly endearing secondary notes of cantaloupe and stone fruit.

Dark amber color and streaming bubbles in the Saint-Martin tall tulip. Long-lasting foam with big clots of lacing. Aroma of mango and marmalade with a whiff of gardenia.

Rich in malty substance, yet tangy. Less sticky than a lot of DIPAs. Plenty of bitterness for the IPA fans. Dark and glowering with some touches of wood and toasted malt. Hops are fruity and leafy. I like the sweet touch, which goes nicely with the lager tanginess.

Another well-crafted brew by Sudwerk. I like this Imperial Lager style. Not everything has to be an ale, and I am happy to see them explore the styles from the German side.

Really enjoy this Double IPL. Great refreshing finishing.i get a growler of this unfiltered whenever it's available at their dock store. Great color, long lasting head and lacing, bitter and a clean finish. 12 bucks to fill a 64oz growler probably increases my enjoyment. The more I have this, the more I enjoy it

Pours an effervescent gold with 2 fingers of ivory colored head. Great lacing & head retention, stays effervescent throughout

S: Pineapple & breadynesss, some grapefruit pith, grassiness too

T: Follows the nose, dryness & grapefruit as well, some grassiness up front. pineapple, grapefruit & breadyness as this warms, a little pine too. Finishes with grapefruit, a touch of dryness, breadyness, grassiness & a little pear

MF: Fairly hefty, with enough carbonation to carry the day, nice balance

Drinks fairly easy, but the ABV & heft are noticeable. Sudwerk nailed this. Not sure about freshness dating, this one is fresh & delicious

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down a bit, consistently leaving a short head covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of tropical fruits are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is dominated by the hops and has lots of flavors of tropical fruits along with some notes of citrus. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little clean on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This lager really packs in the hops, but manages to hide its alcohol very well.

Good, strong beer. Not too skunky. Comparable to Drakes Denoginizer.

Amber color, thick feel and hoppy taste make it hard to see this as a lager. Mild spiciness and sweetness, strong malty flavor and a slightly bitter finish are quite unexpected. Tastes almost like a toned down Ruination. Not bad at all, indeed.

A: Pours a clear dark golden color with a billowy bone white head. Awesome retention and some sticky lace. Looks awesome.

S: Pure papaya right off the bat. Tons of it. A bit of musty hay, overripe mango and some very light citrus.

T: Unfortunately, the taste never comes close to the smell. A strange almost sour graininess upfront followed by some light mango, buttery malt, light floral resin and finishes with some caramel and lingering resin. It's alright, but the flavors feel pretty disjointed.
