From a friend who works at the brewery docks.

Two fingers of light froth over amber. Nose is nice balance of pine hoppiness and caramel, mild biscuit malt. Nice spiciness in there, too. Flavors are pretty malt heavy, but there is still that bit of spice and light grass, as well as that undeniable pine...though the latter is a little evasive. Super crisp mouthfeel, and the bitterness lingers big time.

On-tap at Blue Palms

A: The pour is amber in color with a soapy white head and mild lacing.

S: The hop profile on this beer is quite grassy. There are some floral notes to it and a little bit of a citrus peel character, too. Perhaps not terribly surprisingly, there is a fair amount of bread and malt aroma.

T: Lots of bread with a slightly sweet toffee flavor up front. Some hoppiness, but not as much as you would expect from an IPA. Grassy hops for the most part with some floral notes and a light bitterness. Pretty mild citrus peel notes.

M: Medium in body and carbonation.

O: This was at least drinkable, but I don't think I would go back for another glass of it.

Interesting apple flavor comes up first. Rather perfumey. Dark amber and rather flat in appearance and carbonation. But then this huge bitterness crashes in. It's like being water boarded with hop extract. Astringent is the taste. Moutnfeel? I... can't... feel... my mouth. After a while this is truly vile. This takes the prize for one of the least drinkable IPAs ever.

Tried to drink this at Pizza Port in San Diego. Sign brags about it being all malt, a "German IPA." Sudwerk is rapidly going downhill in my estimation. I had just had a Sculpin before this, so I was certainly primed for hops.
