On tap for Beachwood Sour Fest at Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach, CA.

Billed as cherry-pomegranate lambic aged in a Merlot barrel for 22 months and then blended with their Helles lager.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to tiny wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour and tart with malt, fruit, acidic, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour cherry and grain flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer with an interesting concept behind it but it's fairly unrefined in my opinion.
