Brick....might be the best way to describe this beer. Yeah it's red, didn't smell much, tasted OK, dry off the finish, and its beer so my mouth is happy. This is a solid beer. I could drink it during a session without issue. Would I jump on a plane just for way.

This is a sweet beer. As the previous reviewer noted, there is not much of an aroma to it, and this is likely because of the fact that the malts dominate the hops in this one. Some people like it sweet, and for them, they would very much enjoy this brew.

Color is right on and the sweet taste was pleasant but would be too much for a session beer for me. There are some nice roasted malt overtones which add a flavorful dimension to the beer.

On tap at the brewpub. If I had gotten this beer anywhere else I would have blamed it on the storage - but this was directly from the brewpub. I even asked the bartender if this was how it was supposed to taste - she made some snide remark and said "everyone else seems to like it". Beer was thin and lifeless with no head. Very watery mouthfeel, no aroma to speak of. Taste was dominated by diacytl flavors and not much else. Definitely on the lower end of brewpub beers I have tried.

On-tap at the brewpub,

A: Pours a dark red, with a thick white head with great retention, and thick lacing all the way down, very impressive.

S: Suprisingly rich, with caramel malt the dominant smell, with some rich brown sugar.

T: Tasty malt-oriented beer, caramel and toffee, some diacetyl, but it is light. A nice flavour that is very easy to drink, with a light hop touch at the end.

M: Just smooth and easy drinking, crisp carbonation, medium-bodied.

D: The best beer I've had from HBBC so far, a tasty full-flavoured brew that you could stick with for the night, recommended.
