Went to the Huntington Beach Beer Co. at about 3:30 pm on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was practically bare, but there were 2 other patrons at the bar. The place looks like a simple oceanside bar, with surfing decor and other aquatic decorations around the restaurant. I still hadn't been to my hometown brewpub, so this was a good opportunity to check it out. I had the Altbier and the Brown Ale, both good, but nothing to write home about. Went during happy hour, so the 2 beers were only $6, a great deal. While they make good beer, I think they emphasize their mixed drinks more than their beer, even though this is a brewpub. All and all, though there are some problems, I think this is a good brewpub, and nice to have it in my own backyard, they even had Moylan's Hopsickle on-tap which was cool to see. Parking downtown can be a mess, so I wouldn't go during peak hours, but overall, I enjoyed my time spent there during happy hour.

Edit - I'm seriously docking the atmosphere score here due to my last visit, let me tell you why. They allow smoking on the outside patio. Fine. But if you do that, keep the door to the rest of the pub closed please, the stench drifted in and became unbearable in my section. I tried to move to a section free of smoke, but they said the tables there were reserved. Fuck. I chugged my beer down and paid as fast as I could. Makes me really not want to go back again.

Don't even bother to go here unless you are desperate. The beer is outdated and the food is ok. Better alternatives exist in town. Will work in a pinch but that's a stretch.

Being that I live down the street from Huntington Beach Brewing Company I wish it was a great brewery or even a decent spot to drink. Unfortunately, this place falls flatter than a pint left at room temperature for two weeks. The house beers mostly miss the mark and often have attenuation issues, but there are a few decent guest taps. The food borders between acceptable and terrible.

This is the only brewery I’ve ever been to where the place turns into a dance club on Friday and Saturday nights. If you are eating dinner and aren’t finished by the time dancing starts, your food and chair will be taken – you’ve been warned!

Descent food, poor service, great patio and indoor area. Irish Red and Ocktoberfest have been good here for 10+ years. Great prices on growlers.

Great location. Grab a seat on the patio if available for good people watching. Sadly the beer and food are just mediocre.

great place to meet a friend for a beer however, not so good on selection of what to drink. Its more like a regular bar than a brewery with almost home brew equipment for brewing beers.

Stopped by on Friday.. Blonde, triple, brown, DIPA, red and stout. The DIPA was a big hoppy ale at 9%, unfiltered and delicious. Had the triple next and it had a nice candy/alc taste that was all right. Sampled the brown and it was a light roast & malty ale. I finished with Red, a nice amber colored, malty slightly hoppy ale. Overall very drinkable brews and will be back for sho.

If you are standing outside of Huntington Beach Brewing Co, turn @ and make the drive down to Newport Beach Brewing Company. Trust me, do yourself a "flavor"

Cheers: The red ale was decent enough. When it FINALLY arrived.

Jeers: An insult to the brewing community. Sure it has a outdoor elevated patio, but that patio is mobbed with pretentious d bags and their even lamer friends: the staff. Actually, that's the only thing that HBBC has going for it. I am willing to be that the same lameo bromos that frequent this trainwreck would still shuffle on down if they served Busch Light in plastic cups and said that it was the Blonde Ale. An upgrade to their food would be to serve bait from the pier and call it sushi. But then again, sushi might get all insulted and stuff and go konichiwa on HBBC. Which is just what this place needs: a swift kick in the keester. Saying that this place is horrible is an understatement. Service was atrocious, staff was rude and arrogant, food was sub par. If you read the Yelp reviews, they just don't care about how patrons in the community perceive them. Honestly, the WORST restaurant and bar (notice that I didn't call it a brewery/) that I have ever experienced. This is a never again.
