As its name suggests, Éphémère is an ephemeral ale that comes and goes with the seasons. It was developed as a series to feature a seasonal fruit in a refreshing, lightly spiced white ale. The label depicts a fairy, an ephemeral spirit associated with fruits picked at the peak of ripeness during each harvest season. She first appeared in the spring of 2001 and has since been celebrated on a variety of seasonal fruit ales such as apple (brewed all year long), cranberry, blackcurrant, peach, raspberry and blueberry.

Seasonal beer offered for a limited time only. With its blackcurant aromas enhanced by a mild astringency, its the perfect beer for the summer.

A 750ml bottle, with best before 1/19/07 on the label. A pretty red/orange color with a thick white head. Aroma was all sweet fruit. It tasted of currants, with a little maltiness. I thought it was very fizzy, like I was drinking champagne. An OK beer, for me a nice change of pace.

Éphémère Cassis got it in a 12 mix pack,

Look: Rose amber colour, about a finger of white head. fine bubble.

Smell: Cassis, blackberry smell with some cranberry

Taste: Same as the smell, with some lemon peel and coriander.

Feel: Light to medium body, high carbonation, easy drinking with a touch of sour

So overall would I recommend it ? Sure

Would I buy it again ? Probably

While a fruit beer is not my style, this one wasn't half-bad.

every beer I've reviewed from Unibroue has scored higher than average Ba rating.
a) red body true to cassis, thin head result of fruit addition, decent lace for fruit beer. color cool.
s) subtle, fruit vinegar, over cider mill, and fruit blossoms. Not much grain or hop.
t) All the above in a wine aperitif like format works.
f) Fresh, refreshing, not too sweet, scrubbing.
o) In the top quartile of fruit beers. This one of 7, great idea!

12oz bottle. Stamped on best by date is '02-06-21'.
Slightly cloudy, medium amber (with a touch of red berry color) colored body. Brilliant white head with very small bubbles. Forms a pillow top. Leaves behind some spots of lacing.
Very much a berry aroma, with black currant and raspberry. Very faint wheat and yeast in the background.
Taste has the black currant and another berry more like a strawberry. Balanced by the tangy flavor of the wheat ale.
Mouth feel is soft and very effervescent. High level of carbonation.
Summer time quencher. Leaves a slightly tart taste in the mouth.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) bottle into a customer taster pint; best by 02/06/21.
A: Pours a slightly rose amber color with very robust formation of at least three to four fingers, a foamy, light pink chiffon head, half a finger retention, but somewhat spotty, broad lacing.
S: Tangy/tart. Aroma is largely, very believable (read not artificial) black current with a bit of honeysuckle/cane sugar, although I can also imagine cranberry or raspberry.
T: Semisweet. Mostly black current but, again can picture other berry tastes as contributing. Caramel core appreciable and bitterness light but helps to achieve balance.
M: Light bodied, gorgeous effervescence, refreshing.
O: The Éphémère varieties I have had to date have been consistently delicate and truly short-lived (at least in my glass). Top notch fruit beers with a solid, but not overwhelming flavor picture. I'd take it over a Kir royal and that is saying a lot.

Similar to most of the Ephemere line, a yeasty and flavorful belgian-style fruit beer. The cassis flavor is strong and up-front, hitting the nose as soon as it comes out of the bottle. Overall, pretty enjoyable, but more of a one-per-night kind of beer.

Aroma is berries/fruit, malts and distinct yeast. The flavor is complex berries, Unibroue carbonation/effervescence, malts and a mix of spicy and mild/medium tart finish.
