Bottle: Poured a dark yellow beer with a huge bubbly head that disappeared a bit too quickly for my liking. Aroma is a mix of usual Unibroue malt and not much else. Taste is again characterized by Unibroue usual malt with a nice little touch of hops. Better then some other pils out there but nothing too good for a brewery who can do a whole lot better.

Moving back to the mother ship from the west, I was excited to have this as the "go to beer" in the fridge again. Thanks to the efficiency of the "lager brewer" it's not bottled in a stubby anymore. Shame. Nice golden cereal color, with a nice bready nose. So far exactly as I remember. The taste was similar to what I recall grainy with good hops but no real malt flavor. It the watery higher carbonation that feels much different. I thought it had more weight. All in all it's better then the average more expensive big machine production of Canada.

Cheers

Some years ago, (I think I might've been 17) my brother bought a case of these in stubby bottles. I tasted and was disgusted at how much it tasted likeliquid bread.

First surprise: No stubby bottle! What gives. This is one of the reasons I bought this.

A- Trophy gold with a dirty-white, sort of dense head. Looks okay, whatever.

S- Grainy. A little sour.I don't know what else to say.

T- Second surprise: No liquid bread taste! I don't know if it's the recipe or my palate but this tastes nothing like I remembered it. Instead, grain with some sort of noble hop. Don't know which one(s). Bitterness is well noticeable and tasty. A bit of a seltzer/C02 taste. Slightly watery. Alcohol is pretty noticeable.

M- Full. A little drier would be better in my opinion but it's alright. Medium to high carbonation.

D-Pretty good. Goes down easy but just a tad too bland to keep you wanting more. I bought a 12 pack and got tired/bored of the taste after 4 but I'm sure I could drink a 24 while camping or something.

This is (according to the dep owner) the cheapest beer after PBR. I wish more people would stop being put off by the Unibroue label and drink this instead of Molson, Bleue, BMC. It's a lot better. None of that dirty chemical taste. A friend of mine (a Keith's and PBR drinker) who's always weary of my ''weird'',''nasty'' beers, refused to try one although I told her they were right up her alley.
If I need to buy and share beer with a bunch of close-minded BMC chuggers, I'd certainly consider buying this one.

Bottle courtesy of Turg- Thanks!- Pale straw is the colour with a light sprinkling of white foam. Minute lacing. Honey grasses and some lemon in the nose, with a mild hop presence. Sweet floral hops, with honey , and a good balancing bitterness. Finish has slight bite. I'd buy it, were it available here in Ont. Thanks Francois!

Aroma is very grainy and malt. Taste is the crisp pilsner clean taste with malt and a light hop. This is always a good joke around the family get togethers as our in-laws last name is "Bolduc". So they serve it as their long lost family recipe. I don't have the heart to tell them that it's below average when it comes to beer.

Pretty good head--recedes to a thin layer, but leaves some web-like lace. Clear gold color.

Stale raw grain smell.

Thin, thin, thin with a very high level of carbonation. Low level of hop in the background. The flavor is mostly lighter colored malt and lots of raw grain. Plenty of sourness in the aftertaste, but it's short lasting.

Great lager poured a delicate whisky color, lots of head and amazing lace, awesome carbonation. Aroma of malt and some earthy wheat malt aroma. Some hops and a walop of malt. Great mouthfeel, makes you want to have another.

After 6 you still want another, I blame the BN and lunchmeet after the session. Big thanks to oneal66 for hanging around chating about don hertzfield at 1 am.

Yes.

Served from a long-neck bottle. Color is a clear gold, with a thick white head that lingers. Aroma is a clean, grassy one. Taste is again, very clean. Nice balance between sweet and bitter. Very little aftertaste. Not quite what I'm used to seeing from Unibroue, but a pleasant lager.

431 ml long-necked bottle.

A- Nice white heead and good bubbliness. Clear golden colour. Bubbles cling to the glass a bit. Good looks for the style.

S- Floral hops and some sweet malt. Touch of fruitiness. Could be stronger.

T- Crisp lager with mild but present and pleasant hops that are well balanced with the overall character. A couple of notches above the macros. No off flavours.

MF- Crisp, refreshing. Thin.

D- Easy drinking pale lager. A good warm weather thirst quencher. Goes down very well. Better than average for style, though this style doesn't tend to excite.

I had a personal goal of reviewing 365 beers in my first year. This is number 365! (and I still have 27 days left).

A: Gold with a white head, which quickly dissolves... though it tries to lace.

S: Grassy hops (a little soapy) and some bready malt.

T: Flavour is a little bland/plain. There's only a little breadyness from the malt. It's not offensive, but there's nothing engaging.

M: Light to moderate body, moderate to high carbonation.

D: Very easily approached; should have mass-market appeal. You could session this, but it doesn't thrill me.

Thanks for sharing Len!

Clear golden colour topped by a white, rocky head that disappeared quickly. Slightly spicy, grassy aroma with a bit of sweet pils malt. Light malty flavour, bitterness picks up towards the finish. Very light fruit at midpoint. Ends a bit dry with continued grainy malt, bitterness, and faint spice. Smooth texture with a hint of slickness. Quite a tasty lager from Unibroue and a big step up from U and U2. Thanks Viggo.

Pours a clear golden, decent white head forms, ends up about one finger thick, no lacing to speak of. Sweet malty backbone, caramel, little bit of spicy hopping. Sweet caramel malt, honey, a hint of vanilla and a slightly grassy hop finish. Not much in the way of taste. Body is pretty light, carbonation is medium but a smooth and refreshing beer. Better than its euro counterparts as its fresh so no skunk. Good session beer if you like the lighter stuff.
