Blanche De ChamblyBlanche De Chambly
Notes: The Blanche de Chambly label features the icon of the city where it is brewed: Fort Chambly. It was converted from a wooden barricade used for fighting against the Iroquois in the middle of the XVII century into a stone fortress to combat the British army at the beginning of the XVIII century.
With notes of dried orange peel and coriander seeds, this brew is a worthy representative of classic Belgian-style white wheat beers.

To date, it has won more than 34 international medals, including being named “The World’s Best White Beer" on numerous occasions. Unibroue is proud to brew the most popular white beer in Quebec.

12oz bottle best before 8/23/2023 into a 12 oz tulip glass.
L: Pours radiant hazed cream gold w high carbonation, a 1"+ white head w excellent creamy, frothy retention like cappuccino milk eventually going to a thick skin, thick banding rings and some lacing.
S: Banana, cloves, pear, light caramel, lightly floral, very light citrus.
T: Banana, cloves, lightly caramelized malts, coriander, citrus zest, yeast, gently fruity. Finishes gently sweet and malty with light yeast. Way in the background I get a sensation of almond.
F: Lively with a semi-plush center. Rather smooth overall w a medium body and a fairly clean & gently drying finish. Great feel.
O: Expertly brewed and easy drinking. A gorgeous beer all around. Exact in proportions with excellent look, taste & feel. It is outstanding in it's style. I will buy this again.

Can
L-,cloudy straw yellow. 1-2F off white head fades quickly
S-true to style with a lot going on. spices with coriander, some hay, and occasional floral notes. Rare citrus as well.
T-follows the nose, but much more moderate. Put another way, true to style and subtle.
F-not quite as crisp or light bodied as I’d expected.
O-a solid flavor and an excellent aroma held back by a lack of crispness in the mouthfeel.

Straw colored, opaque but lets a fair bit of light shine through. Head almost 3 fingers tall but dissipates quickly and remains at low levels for a while; almost no lacing of any kind. Smells reminiscent of an old world chardonnay. Very little hop aroma or bitterness (fine by me). Tastes somewhat bready and like an old grape (minus the sweetness). Definitely like the mouth feel, light but lingering. Not a huge fan but very approachable.

A nice witbier that shows a little more from the grains than the yeast or lighter spices in its flavor profile to me. It has an earthy vibe to it, though some light banana notes add some sweetness and keep things from being too dull. Funny thing is that the flavor seems to wane if I have a bite of cheese. The nose, on the other hand, is pretty on point with what I expect from a well made witbier, wheat, spice, and a light banana phenol.

Lovely witbier in the tulip, darker orange in the thick spots and almost a cloudy white when the light hits it just right, it poured to a two inch thick creamy head that lasted a few minutes. Thick and long lacing down the side.

Pleasant aroma, more wheaty bread than malty in my opinion, mild cloves but strong sweet orange smell.

Taste is, again, quite pleasant. Spicy clove notes hit first, more than the smell would indicate, before hitting you with some mild orange notes, slight zest. On some of my sips I get almost a savoury taste, which is unusual for the style, but that might just be a bit of the orange tang. The flavours are mild, but I find they have a gentle staying power! It finishes with a slow biscuit taste on the tongue, and you can taste orange, wheat, or clove notes if you drink this beer with some food. Pairing it with a good meal or dinner will jump the beer higher for most people I think!

Really nice, refreshing feel. Excellent choice for when you’re really thirsty and want something to hit that spot, but really hit it with some good flavour. Lots of carbonation but not excessive, it goes down smooth and creamy. Really excellent offering from Unibroue, subtler than their other offerings, but I found this more complex than Hoegaarden!

Pale straw body with a soapy head. Smell is bready malt, coriander, spice, lemon, and floral notes. Taste follows- bread malt, lots of coriander, cloves, lemon, pepper, orange peel, and floral hops. High carbonation with a dry finish. Pretty good, though the carbonation could be toned down a bit. Another reviewer called it a good lunch beer, which I think describes it perfectly.

Purchased as a 16oz can from The Blue Door for $4.00. Poured into a hefe glass.

L - Hazy light gold with a one-finger eggshell head. Decent lacing.
S - Sweet, with a strong coriander and clove. Assorted wheat. Biscuit.
T - Coriander and clove come through like a sucker punch to your tongue. A base flavor of mineral-backed white pepper. Finish is dry, and with slight - barely detectable - orange peel. Well-balanced throughout.
F - Mighty refreshing. Easy-to-drink. Medium body, and lots of carbonation.
O - This is up there as one of the better lunch beers I've had. I'd definitely recommend it, but I don't think it was worth the price I got it at. It's not really complex, nor does it need to be. If you're a fan of spice in your beer, but not a lot of different spices, this is your brew! I'll probably buy this one again.

Swirled bottle at end of pour. Straw pale golden. The yeast and sediment bring a bit of darkness to the color.
Tight Champaign like bubbles that form a dense pillow like head that stays.

Apple, horse blanket and citrus smells. Very nice. The phenolic characteristics are stronger than the fruit/spice aroma but still subtle.

Wow, they did this right. The fermentation and yeast are the dominant flavor and it is balanced by the fruit and spice. But all of it is subtle which you rarely get with this style. They keep the flavors muted so the yeast can do it's work

Too many try to overpower with flavors. This is fantastic.

From the shoulder of the bottle, in yellow dotted text: "BB 03-22-23 C22212242QFL"

Appearance: The body is a medium shade of gold with a good deal of haze. Slightly fuzzy shadows are visible through the beer. It has a large and fluffy white head with the consistency of soap suds. Very good retention and lacing.

Aroma: There is a pleasant perfume of coriander and orange zest with a hint of vanilla.

Taste: Up front there is a presence of tangy orange. As it passes over the tongue it picks up some wheat character. Coriander pops in near the rear of the palate and lingers a bit as it rolls off the back of the tongue.

Mouthfeel: It is well carbonated and feels light on the tongue but textured. No real bitterness. There is a light tangy bite to the beer which keeps things interesting.

Overall: The highlight of the beer is the wonderful aroma that is packed with a great perfume of coriander and orange while keeping it restrained enough to allow it to be delicate. The flavors are a near-equal match to the aroma, sacrificing a little bit of the vanilla aroma but bringing forth some pleasant but mild wheat character. It is an extremely enjoyable beer and I would highly recommend it and I would definitely drink it again.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours a nice murky orange with white head. The nose immediately bursts with orange and lemon. Bread, wheat, and grass come through next. The taste is really refreshing. Lemon, wheat, orange creamsicle, grass, and some sweet candy. Super smooth and drinkable. I love it. Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Perfect beer for a summer night. Will definitely buy again.

Pours a hazy ochre color with a medium but very off white bubbly head due to the high carbonation. Tangerine, mildly floral and yeasty on the nose. Refreshing taste of orange with high carbonation and plenty of wheatish character. Solid brew but not life changing.
