Style: Tripel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

This was the first beer with 9% alcohol I've had. Readily available in Quebec since 1994 ! Has won tons of medals! Put Québec on the map for micro beers. Available here for less than 3$ Canadian in most food and corner stores. It is a delicious triple ale in the Belgian style. Lots of complex flavours, fruit pale malt,s light hops, some bitterness on the final. It is a bit on the sweet side. Don't overdo it!. Better sipped.
Well worth a try.

A: hazy amber color.
S: cloves, banana, spices
T: Cloves, bananas. Malty. Not at all bitter. Minimal to no hoppiness. Milder than I expected. Sort of like a hefeweizen but not exactly. About 9% alcohol but doesn't taste very boozy.
M: Full bodied. Very nice mouthfeel.
O: Quite a good beer. Seems to scratch the same itch that a hefeweizen or Vitus scratches. Slightly different though. I like it but I don't love it. I may try again in future.

Dark yellow in color with a hazy appearance. Poured with thick, soapy, bright white foam with good retention. Aromas of fruity pear, estery banana and pepper, bready yeast, candy sugar and sweet malt. Medium light bodied with effervescent, tangy carbonation and mellow warmth near the finish. Flavors are similar to aromas. Estery banana and light peppery notes, sweet sugary malt, light fruity pear. Medium, earthy, tangy hop bitterness through the middle. Finished semi-dryly with light boozy heat, yeasty and light fruity notes. Booziness is wonderfully masked making this dangerously drinkable. Fantastic array of complex flavors. An excellent triple.

Pours with a nice two fingers of white foam that lingers after the pour. Light golden color, not very opaque. Strong spiciness in both in smell and taste. Despite being a high alcohol beer, does not taste very strongly of alcohol.

T - fruity but not overbearingly sweet. smooth and rich.
F - initial sip hits a bit strong, but it gets better with every sip

My absolute favorite beer. Although I drink many styles, this one is always in my fridge.
