Style: Tripel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

Astounding no matter where you enjoy it, Unibroue hit it out of the park with this offering. They have other beers which can be lighter or heavier to taste, but this is pretty much the measuring stick for which all Canadian-style Trappist beers are judged. People may be put off by the cost, but it's fair to say you're getting what you pay for in terms of both flavor and effect.

Very well balanced Tripel. Could get really drunk on this as there is hardly any alcohol presence, $3 dollar Tulips at Happy hour!! Could not believe it

12 oz. bottle into a snifter.
Pours gold orange color. Cloudy. Abundant froth quickly disappears, leaving only little lacing on glass.
Divine smell of yeasts and spices.
Full-bodied mouthfeel: flavor typical of Belgian Abbey beers (In my somewhat limited experience, Unibroue is the closest you can get to an authentic Belgian ale in the Nouveau Monde). This ''End of the World'' is a perfect 'authentic' Belgian Trippel.
Strong (9% ABV), sweet -- but not without some understated bitterness (20 IBU) and the usual spices.

A well established masterpiece. Also on draught in most Lowlands group cafés.
