Style: Tripel

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
La Fin du Monde was developed through 18 months of research on a unique strain of yeast originating from Europe. It is brewed in honor of the intrepid European explorers who believed they had reached the “end of the world” when they discovered North America ‘the new world’. This triple-style golden ale recreates the style of beer originally developed in the Middle Ages by trappist monks for special occasions and as such it was the first of its kind to be brewed in North America.

A very hazy yellow gold with a big white head. Smells of banana, eaters, and clove. Tastes of banana, sweet malt, clove, allspice. Light but creamy mouthfeel but high carbonation. Overall a great beer but just not my typical style.

Wow !!! what to sa... other than YES world class triple. It has great yellow/gold color which pours a nice thick foamy head, but not long lasting. It has all the notes of a very nice tripel in the aroma, mouthfeel, and finish taste. as an ale it is even, I feel very much Monk worthy beer. The flavor thru out is superb and just delightful. The smell is so full of fruit can't even decipher them all, but it all work just right together. a must try no fault beer.

Look - Pours a murky orange color, three fingers of bright white head foam to the top, great retention, no lacing.
Aroma - Banana, allspice, sweet orange, musty.
Taste - Dried apricot, sweet malt, clove, white bread, banana. Much needed bitterness balances the sugars out. Alcohol is warming and sweet. Yeast towards the end with a very spice forward aftertaste.
Feel - Medium bodied, slightly gritty, light carbonation for the style, warming alcohol.

Overall - Sweeter, spicier and with more noticeable alcohol than most tripel's I've had. A little rough around the edges but still very enjoyable.

From Saveur-Biere. In La Trappe chalice. Watching Los Soprano 6x02. Had great expectations and didnt dissapoint. Perfect tripel. All typical notes of the style perfectly assembled. Superb aroma. Found myself enjoying it just by its aroma. Abv very well hidden. Left me wanting more

Pours a lovely golden amber color with a huge foamy head. I poured gently on the side of the glass and the foam is still insane! It makes interesting shapes as it recedes. As I pour the bottom of the bottle, sediment makes its way into my glass. Not a great deal of lacing, thick where present.

Aroma is cloves, bread, and sweet fruit tones (banana, possibly apricot) as is typical of a Belgian style tripel. Smells just slightly boozy.

Tastes a bit more bitter than I was expecting. Not too fruity, definitely taste clove and bread with a hint of sweetness. Does not hide the 9% ABV.

Feel is light and dry but somewhat malty on the finish. Carbonation is pretty high.

Overall, a really good beer. Not something I would drink regularly but definitely worth picking up every now and then when you want a unique (and relatively affordable) triplel.
