This is Unibroue’s own interpretation of a Belgian saison ale, traditionally brewed in winter by farm breweries. Stored for a few months, they were then served to field workers as a means of helping them cool off on long, hot summer days. Saison ales were considered highly refreshing, even when served warm in the days before refrigeration.

Blonde de Chambly pays tribute to the Filles du Roy, the women who came to New France between 1663 and 1673 to marry soldiers of the Carignan-Salières Regiment, among others, and start their families in the Montérégie.

Big chewy white head, that faded away after the first sip. Carbonation is high. The color is golden and its hazy.

Smell: spices, something sweet(fruits), malt, and something herbal.flowers

taste: some fresh herbal aromas, malt.

mf: high carbonation, the brew is quite round
theres a medium aftertaste of herbal, earthy, little bit sour..

drinkability: the brew is ok

its nice from Unibroue to choose a Saison for their blond, because this style is not widely available here. Its a good interpretation of the style.

Poured into a tulip, I’m finding it hard to rate most of the excellent beers I drink below a 3.5-4 for appearance. They all look gorgeous and so does this. A cloudy, orange-y amber appearance, pours a bubbly two inch head that quickly fades.

I’m new to the saison style — it sounds like something I would absolutely ADORE, but alas, in Canada they are hard to find. So take this with a pinch of salt, that this smells and tastes somewhere between a witbier and a typical Belgian ale. Some reviews say it’s just Unibroue, but either way, it’s a very refreshing beer.

Mild orange zest on the nose, phenolic spice, yeasty mango notes abound.

Taste is quite smooth, mild bitterness from the hops that is very balancing of the yeasty grassy, bready side. Definite peppery hop to the finish, which is moderately dry. Has a complex, subtle aftertaste that lingers that is hard to put a finger on, I’d just say generally it’s like a malty, sourdough bread?

Great feel and could easily knock these back with no problems! Had this with some chicken, potatoes, and pease porridge and finished it before I was even done the potatoes. Very smooth mouthfeel with zesty, but not overpowering carbonation.

Someone said below this beer is very complex and subtle, not in your face enough with flavours or hops like modern American consumers want, and I wish I was more of an expert to agree or disagree. Since saisons are often bottle fermented, I’m going to cellar my other one and pop it open some months later, and look forward to reviewing again once the beer and my palate develop more!

Obtained in a variety pack and poured from fridge temp. Pours a nice golden yellow/light orange with an abundance of white head. Eventually simmers down. Nose is unmistakably a saison. Barnyard funk right away - then comes wet leather, yeast, mango, a hint of lemon peel, and a bit of apple. Nice and fruity. The taste is nice and smooth. Nothing tugging it one way. A nice balance of yeast, hops, and fruitiness. Citrus for sure, but also some other tropical fruit notes come through. Papaya and mango come to mind. Wet grass, old wood, and a candy sweetness. This is really nice and super easy to drink on a summer night. I will definitely try to get more.

Poured into a pilsner as recommended this one offers a very nice golden full efferversence pour with decent collar that lasts well. Nose is complex of malty breaded hops with yeasty finish. Musty earth tones complete the scented journey. Taste is fresh and sharp. Light citrus with decent finish. All around a nice beer.

Pours mildly hazy, fizzy, pale gold color with one finger head that dissipates quickly. Looks like a Pilsner. Pretty carbonated , little to no bitterness. Aroma dominated by yeast, cereal on the sweet side and apple. Reminds me a little of a witbier thanks to the peppery/spice kick. Low ABV and light, crispy taste. Not a boring beer for sure.

Hazy yellow-tan color. Poured with a thick head that quickly collapsed to a thin skiff patch in the centre of the glass. No lacing. Most of the bubbles rising from the bottom are in the centre of the glass keeping the patch of head going.

Slightly funky sour scent with a bit of citrus. Swirling the glass kicked up the funk with a very light barnyard addition.

Lightly tart with some mild citrus and a trace of spice. A blend of yeast and light malts form the base for a typical saison. The aftertaste has some light bitters that join in with a bit of citrus peel.

Very foamy despite the visual lack of carbonation. Some light tongue tingling. Lighter body.

Could drink this every day. Reminds me a bit of Hoegaarden Witbier, but heads in a different direction with the funky tart flavors. Very faithful to the saison style, but not stretching for anything special.

works for me - another saison from unibroue.
a - apparently late to the game these guys nailed it for looks, amber gold body, clear with persistent firm head that laces and rings, fine bubbles.
s - yeasty aromas first with fresh baked bread, grape must, pilsner, wheat, green apple tempered by plenty of peppery hop.
t - as with the aroma with rich, peppery, lightweight, yet complex feel.
o - wine-like with crisp green apple and pepper the main event.

A: Poured from the 750mL bottle into a tulip glass. The beer is a slightly orange golden color that is clear with a good amount of carbonation. Head was large and fluffy and lasted a good amount of time.

S: Banana bread, pineapple, honey, yeast, citrus.

T: Blanaced flavor with a sweet note, some bright fruits. Not funky like some other saisons, pretty mild yeast flavor here. Finishes sweet with some honey and just a touch of dry happiness. Refreshing

F: Bright, effervescent.

Overall: I was hesitant to get this, but it was a pleasant surprise. Not my favorite Unibroue, but would be a nice summer session.

Hazy gold with a medium head. Fruity Belgian yeast nose. Light-medium wheaty body with high carbonation, finishing off-dry. Crisp, not too funky.
