From Saveur Biere. In Grimbergen glass. Wartching Los Soprano 6x05-06. Not much sasion-esque, more lika a belgian pale ale. Plenty of apple and coriander notes. Pretty tasty for such a low abv. Nice carbonation

Poured from the 12oz bottle into a straight glass.

This brew looks a fairly opaque golden yellow. Head goes away quickly but it is bubbly. It has a subtle floral, peppery smell, but I had to search for it. What's more notable about the taste is that you get a rather noticeable bite from the carbonation; otherwise it tastes a little bit like corn and orange peel. Not bitter at all, and bread-like, either. The carbonation lingers for a little while, and during this part I noticed more of the cloves and pepper.

A nice brew overall, but I was a bit distracted by the high starchy taste and strong carbonation. I ended up drinking it quickly but I noticed it every time I took a sip.

Strong perfume, verging on cloying. It seems as though there might be some coriander and orange peel. Biggest problem is that it is not dry or crisp and finishes rather sweet and a bit thick for a saison.

Slightly hazy yellow gold. Short head to a heavy film, spotty lace as you go. Spicy nose, cloves and banana, nice dose ofvyeast and wheat. Appetizing. Very sharply carbonated, almost to the point of distraction. Flavourful brew. Deliciously wheaty, yeasty, and bready. Quite fresh on the palate. Spice and cloves. Very good drinking here, but just a bit too much sparkle.

A good saison.. but I've had far better from Unibroue, which remain a very good brewery

Poured from a 12oz bottle into tulip glass:

Appearance: light-yellow in body, with a quickly dissipating white head. Dwindles down to a very slight ring of foam, replenished by constantly rising bubbles.

Aroma: yeasty and malty, with clove and banana being the dominant scents I get. Very, very wheaty and mildly sweet smelling.

Taste: tons of wheat once again, with floral hop character and lots of pepper and clove spice. Finishes somewhat dry with grassy, ester-y notes.

Feel: very carbonated, with a smooth, crisp finish. Drinks light and refreshing.

Overall: a very nice summery saison with some complexity to it.

Procured in Montreal. To my knowledge is it not yet available stateside.

I was a little shaky about trying Unibroue's non-US options after my experience with their ungodly, budget-priced U series of beers. I figured they wouldn't do anything stupid to their prized "de Chambly" line, though.

And they didn't. This is basically one of their Ephemere beers but without any fruit in it: a cloudy, fizzy, very subdued Belgian blonde that's a gorgeous showcase for their excellent belgian yeast skills.

The beer is delicate but interesting throughout. As light as seltzer on the tongue yet as complex and interesting as any Russian Imperial you're likely to come across. A real, true magnificent work of brewing art that is unfortunately not up to contemporary standards of aggressiveness.
