Style: Belgian Strong Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Don de Dieu (Gift of God) was the name of the ship that Samuel de Champlain sailed on his mission to “explore and discover the vast and perilous land of America” in the name of the King of France. His travels led to the founding of Quebec City in 1608.

Inspired by this great adventure, Unibroue created Don de Dieu—an abbey-style triple wheat beer refermented in the bottle. Soft and round, it has delicately nuanced fruity and hoppy notes.

When you come across a beer made with great professionalism it is a pleasure. This beer is balanced, with the complexity that the style demands. But without excesses does not excessive. It's a round beer. Very big!!

initially, too sweet...but...as it warmed, the nose became pronounced...i got caramel, lemon zest, apricots...the taste shifted to caramel, generic citrus (salty lime tang), canned peaches (in a good way)...was craving cookies earlier. this makes me want some shortbread. an impressive ale.

Has a nice hazy golden appearance with a big fluffy Belgian head. Bready estery sweetness on the nose. Quite sweet on the palate, which makes for a creamy, buttery mouthfeel. Medium carb.

To me this is a great Belgian Style Triple Wheat ale. The complexity of flavors is really good. The aromas hard to tell just that is good. I get all kinds of dry fruits aromas and tastes

Orange color with BEAUTIFUL perfect head of white foam. One of the prettiest beers I've seen. Would give a 6/5 on appearance if I could. Pleasant, yet somewhat plain scent consisting of yeasty, sweet fruit notes. Lovely taste! Sweet, malty goodness finishes with a nutty, earthy bite. Mouthfeel is crisp yet full with a light body and clean finish. One of my top 5 beers I've ever tasted, easily.

Cloudy, yellow looks with tons of short-lived foam. Smells of malts, banana, syrup. The taste is that sweet and mildly sour combo I expect from sours and stronger pale ales. Biased towards the sweet end, but there is enough crispness to balance things a bit. There is a very pleasant bread-like character, probably from the suspended yeast. Plenty of carbonation. Gentle finish, thick body and deceptively easy to drink, like a Duvel. Another great brew from La Fin du Monde.

orange appearance. goes down smooth. tastes a lot like the orange ice cream bar with the white cream underneath. for that reason, it would not be my go-to beer, but i wouldn't mind drinking it every now and then
