Poured into my DFH chalice.

Appearance: A small white head rises up from a body the color of murky sunshine and quickly recedes. The color is almost that of unfilted cider. It looks beautiful.

Smell: Apples dominate with hints of raisins and mild vinegar. Nice and pleasant. I am also getting teased by a woody hop scent that is firmly European. No American hops here, my friends.

Taste: Wow, this thing is complex. The apples and fruit dominate the front with the slightest trace of belgian malt and British hops leading my tongue to a very dry and crisp finish. The finish reminds me of a good cider. Crisp and refreshing. Complex and fun!

Mouthfeel: Medium body that is slightly under carbed. I think the lack of carbonation helps the complex tastes nvolved here. Bravo!

A very good beer that would be (suprisingly) perfect on a summer afternoon.

Has the hazy golden appearance of honey with tons of fine carbonation streaming within. A dense, one inch white head builds above, leaving fine lace on a tulip glass.

The aroma is fruity with light floral notes. There is some funkiness with apple cider, apricot and hay. In the background one will find black pepper.

Don de Dieu is mild in every way and well balanced. There is fruitiness along with grains all quite pleasant. The finish is light and lingering, similar to a dry white wine.

A full body with moderate alcohol, well below expectations. Dry with vigorous, fine carbonation.

Quite refreshing, oddly for the style, but welcome. This one is great with food or on its own. It warms well and might accompany conversation nicely.

A: This beer pours a very nice golden orange body with a medium sized white head.

S: There is a lot of fruit on the nose of this beer. The Belgian Yeast really sticks out with a tiny bit of malt.

T: Just like the smell, the Belgian Yeast is very present. It tastes very nice and the fruitiness turns into a nice wheat flavor.

M: There is tons of carbonation in this beer and it doesnt go down as smooth as I was hoping. The crispness on the back of the throat and tongue adds a little to the mouthfeel.

O: This is a pretty good beer. This is not the best I have had from Unibroue, but does hit the spot.

Enjoyed in a snifter

A: pours a pretty hazy yellow color with a finger of fine silky white head that lingers briefly and has a nice amount of carbonation, leaves absolutely zero lacing
S: interesting scent, tart and also a bit of a scent similar to white grapes
T: has an overall really nice taste, pretty clear notes of tartness and white grapes, the middle hits with a bit of depth and something like an old blanket thats been hidden in a closet for a while (yea, no idea where that came from but yea)
M: pretty aggressive carbonation, thin and leaves the mouth clean
O: a nice tasting brew with great tartness and complexity, finishes clean and smooth, quite enjoyable

12oz bottle poured into an oversized snifter

A: Not much of a head. Dissipated fairly quickly. Large bubbles. Golden colored and moderately hazy with not much lacing to speak of.

S: Green raisins, green apple and lemon zest. Some bread/biscuit and spicy clove. Strong Belgian yeast. I don’t think of “tart” as a scent descriptor, but it came to mind and was expected in the taste. This seems like it’s going to be somewhere between a cider and a Tripel.

T: The green apple and raisin are prominent but a little bit of banana and coriander is added to the mix. Yeast is up front and delicious.

M: Carbonation tickles the tongue but doesn’t contribute much else. Body quite thin. Easy to drink. Dry finish but not astringent.

O: This is a sneaky beer. I feel that the pieces of my review didn’t equal the sum of its parts. In other words, my review somewhat masks the enjoyment that I got out of drinking this. While no single aspect of this blows you away, you can’t help but appreciate how it all comes together. I will remember this one when I’m in the mood.

Enjoyed this 12oz bottle out of a large snifter glass.

A: Pours a hazy golden hue with a huge, 4-finger, white head that slowly dissipates into a wispy lace.

S: Strong alcoholic yeasty aroma .

T: Sweet, strong and smooth brew. Very zesty and spicy with a good yeast background. Lots of complex flavors here.

M: Very strong and boozy. Medium body and medium carbonation.

O: Wow – this beer kicked some ass. Very complex aroma and flavor and enough alcohol to make it interesting.
