As its name suggests, Éphémère is an ephemeral ale that comes and goes with the seasons. It was developed as a series to feature a seasonal fruit in a refreshing, lightly spiced white ale. The label depicts a fairy, an ephemeral spirit associated with fruits picked at the peak of ripeness during each harvest season. She first appeared in the spring of 2001 and has since been celebrated on a variety of seasonal fruit ales such as apple (brewed all year long), cranberry, blackcurrant, peach, raspberry and blueberry.

Reminescent of rosé wine with a dry aftertaste of wild pin cherries.

Serving Type - 750ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass

Appearance - Pours a cloudy straw colour with very strong pink hues. Friggin' awesome. A mild amount of carbonation is visible around the edges. On top sits 3 fingers of bright white foamy head.

Smell - Lot's of cherry sort of like chalky-candy. Or medicine. It's Unibroue so there's a good deal of yeast as well.

Taste - Lottsa cherry. There's some bready notes in there as well, but it definable takes a back seat to the strong cherry. There's also lots of spices. Bitterness is low-to nonexistent.

Mouthfeel - Reallly light. Carbonation is pretty high. Finish is crisp, light and refreshing.

Purchased at the LCBO 3yrs ago for just over $5.00 for a 750ml bottle. Served at 9deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high off white head that films out in 4 or 5 minutes. Light red colour and filtered clear

S- Nice cherry here. No medicinal scent at all like some fruit brews.

T- Super light and smooth beer. Must try. Super mellow and blended to perfection.

M- Aged perfection.

O- Very good. Have tried many of this companies fruit brews before and did not like them at all. Put a few years on it and watch out! Fantastic

Food Pairing

This wonderful brew went very well with...... Home made ice cream with my favorite vanilla bean

Enjoy

On tap at Basin 141 in Montrose, CA.

Pours a murky reddish-orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, cherry medicine, fruit slice candy, and perfume aromas. Taste is much the same with cherry medicine, perfume, and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but there is a medicinal aspect of the cherry smell and taste that lowers the drinkability for me.

Serving type: on tap.
