Had on-tap at Barley's Taproom Asheville. Served in a pint glass.

A- Pours a reddish medium brown color with a 1/2 inch light tan head that retains very well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind.

S- Delightful aroma of earthy hops which is accentuated by a very soily smell that I suppose is from the yeast? There's also some toastiness but it's overpowered by this soil.

T- Ok so now I'm starting to think the soily nature of this beer is actually coming from the hops which would have been my last guess (malt being my second). The reason I think this is because the bitterness commingles with this soiliness very closely. Other than that, it's an overall smooth brew with a very unique hop flavor and the alcohol is very well concealed.

M- A bit dry with medium carbonation and a fullish body.

O- If you dig earthy hops, this is right up your alley. A well-executed brown ale which I was expecting since, after all, it is Lagunitas.

On-tap 1/4/2015 at Battleship Brewhouse in Fall River, MA, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep coppery brown color, with a medium foamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains fruit, hops, caramelized malts, maple and some nuts.

T: The taste starts out with a good burst of hops bitterness. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, maple and fruit come in. The malt character is hearty but not too heavy and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a nice hoppy brown ale to drink for a while.

Look - fantastic Amber brown color with a good head and great lacing!
Smell - smells like an ipa which throws of the brown ale. I love ipas and think it smells great. Also has a hoot malt smell though.
Taste - great toasty Amber brown hoppy taste
Feel - light carbonation light to medium body.
Overall - fantastic brown ale if you love hoppy beers.
