this pale ale is way to sweet and way to fruity. A disapointment

I'm sorry, I don't understand all these high ratings. Take a glass of unsweetened grapefruit juice, carbonate it, and add grain alcohol until it reaches 7.2 ABV. That's what we're talking about here. It doesn't disgust me, but it doesn't strike me as a pale ale or an IPA. It just strikes me as carbonated alcoholic grapefruit juice. If I wanted to drink that, I could make it for a lot less than $2 a bottle.

Golden-yellow very slightly hazy color with active carbonation. Slightly off-white, tall, bubbly head, receding slowly leaving a sticky lacing. Strong, citrus & piney aroma. Dominate hop flavor, citrus, pine. Mouth feel is somewhat thin. Malts are there, but definitely under the strong hop flavor, aroma, and bittering. Bittering asserts in the middle and remains very, very strong in the aftertaste. A very good, hoppy, pale ale (in reality, an IPA, though, to be honest). The fresh hop aroma is there, and the hop flavor is there, but it is a very bitter beer. Not exactly my preferred taste profile, but not bad for a macro brewer! ;-)

Wow this beer fucking stinks. Finally grabbed one $2.50 single thank goodness didn't get 6. I do like grapefruit juice but If I want alcoholic grapefruit juice I'll throw a shot of gin or vodka in it, like I did when I was a kid. But I wanted a beer, not a drink.

What the hell are we rating around here these days? I'm looking for a little more complexity and beer in my beer. Drank one 11/13 not that old, no excuses. I know don't like Mosaic, Equinox or Citra hops but last year's was alot better. Once again proud to have the lowest rating.

I bought this refrigerated bottle at a package store in Cambridge, MA. I'm assuming it's fresh, though I searched for several minutes and could not find a date on the bottle. I found it to be a decent, highly-hopped, thirst-quenching IPA with a notable bouquet. My only gripe is with the lack of taste complexity. The hop character, while sharp and pungent, doesn't lend itself to "hours" of prolonged contemplation. It's just kind of BAM..right in your face. Frankly, it tastes more like a single-hop beer, though they list 4 or 5 hops as ingredients on their website. I would hesitate to buy this again by itself, but I might order it as a complement to certain types of food (Pizza, Mexican) that can stand up to that kind of single-minded hop flavor.
