A- light copper with a creamy, off white head of about a finger. Terrific lacing.

S- No surprise here...Lagunitas brews another west coast style IPA that awakes the olfactory with intoxicating stimulus of fresh pine, grapefruit pith, and lemon grass. Accompanied by a strong bready malt base.

T- Quintessential, classic, hop forward, big, west coast DIPA. Serious hop profile from the get go makes for a juicy, yet spicy start. A true NW profile with the C hops. Healthy dose of crystal malts take on the role of the referee to break things up and give you a timely break from the IBU pounding you are taking.

M- Crisp, big bodied, and bitter.

O- My second fav IPA from this brewery. Just a notch below Sucks. Well done. This one probably flies under the radar due to the ease of which it can be found. One of the better IPA values.

$4 for a 22oz bomber

Nice clean straight forward double IPA. Doesn't seem to be slanted towards an east coast or west coast bias of the style more like a good representation of what you'd expect. Very floral on the nose with a nice head for an IPA. A little more on the orangy-brown color than most with a solid body. It finishes rather smooth and sweet then ends with a slight not overly bitter after taste.

*12 oz. Bottle* Checking out a Californian DIPA, just for fun. I'm going to keep this review simple because this beer is pretty simple. The appearance on this brew is: A nice bright crystal clear orange body with a towering white frothy head. This beer gives amazing Head! Ok time to for the fragrance: This has the aroma of rose peddles wrapped around some silly citrus air freshener. Hints of dense earthy hops. Like that of wet resinous wood... Heh wood. The malt smells like that of caramel and wheat. Smells simple enough for a DIPA. Tasting this should be a treat, since the aroma isn't telling too much. This tastes like sweetened grapefruit and pineapple juice with hints of white grapes. There is some cedar sawdust flavor in here as well. Hints of herbal tea as the finish comes forth. This is on almost syrupy quality maltiness. This finishes semi-dry with a subtle amount of citrus acidity and bitterness. Not a tongue scorcher. Pleasant from all the "palate wreckers" out there ;). While this beer warms some alcohol is present but not on "oh my god" status. The mouthfeel on this bad boy is medium bodied with cola like carbonation.

Overall: Yeah it is what it is. This beer is neat and clean, just not on the adventurous side. It has components of being World Class, but just doesn't seem to catch that threshold. I'm from the southern side of the Mid-west I like my beverages balanced and sweet. The aroma is decent but lacks the punch in the face that I accept from West Coast DIPAs. This seems more like it was from a brewer that came from the East Coast. That's not a complaint, but this brew is a little more malt forward than normal. I can clearly state that yeah this brew is worthy.
*edit: If I get a fresher bottle I will re-review it. This tastes damn good for being two almost three months old.*
