Tasted from a bottle over 15 minutes.
The pour is lovely, with a nice clear orange base and bubbly head that holds on in patches and laces nicely.
Scents are enticing--grapefruit and pine and prominent, as expected. But the kiwi and malt add interesting dimensions.
Unfortunately, I can't agree with others about the flavor. I had a fresh bottle, stored well, with good clarity in the pour, but the stale funk was off putting and detracted from the citrus, floral, and grainy goodness that seem to be holed up in there. It's complex, but the best elements are overshadowed.
Not a bad medium bodied feel, but it is a tad angular and clumsy.
There's so much really good beer out there in this style that I'm sad to report, this brew makes me appreciate the others more. No need for me to go back, especially after having been tempted by the sight and smell and then let down.

Lagunitas Brewing Company, California
---from bottle to stemmed tulip glass---

Honey gold with a slight haze, thick white head, good lacing.

Lots of citrus, kiwi, blood orange, mango, pineapple, a little bready. Very bright and fresh!

Orange pulp-like bitter, warming alcohol bite, slight piney resin, bread.

Wet, refreshing, good carbonation, medium body. Very smooth.

Really good. Just the right amount of alcohol to bounce of the citrucy hops of this beer. This beer makes up for what Lagunitas IPA lacks. Ill get this again.

A- Pours a deep, clear golden, almost to an amber. Big head develops in my tulip and sticks around forever. Lacing is very good also. The color on this one is strikingly amber-gold.

S- Bitter hops all the way through here. Hops in this one are mainly piney and sticky smelling. The piney scents are so strong, it makes me think of tree sap almost.

T- Bitter, slight hints of light balancing malts, and more hops bitterness are what you get in this beer's flavor. Hops bitterness is big in the beginning before giving way to some very faint, light malts. Then it moves right back to hops bitterness with some alcohol bitterness mixed in.

M- Thick and sticky on the tongue. This beer's alcohol level can be felt in moderation. Weight on the palate is moderate to heavier, but not too bad. The high hops presence and alcohol presence is the limiting factor in the drinkability of this beer.

Overall, a solid DIPA. Big hops bitterness with very little in the way of a balancing malt act make this a beer for someone that is more of a hop head than me. Still, a good beer.
