A - Clear light amber with nice retention and lacing

S - Got a cold, can't smell anything...

T - Deep caramel malts, sweet and tangy, dominate. A nice pine hop cuts the sweetness, but overall is not very hoppy. I was surprised to see the Alc. at %8.2, it was not very present.

M - medium body with moderate to light carbonation.

O - This is good but not a great ipa for me. I prefer a hop forward ipa with malts to balance, but this beer takes the opposite route. Maybe this is a good beer as a transition into from summer to fall, but Sierra Nevada Torpedo will remain my go to high ABV sixer.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into an oversized pilsner glass.

Pours a nice golden brown with a one-finger width head that slowly recedes. Leaves light lacing around the glass.

A nice, piney hop aroma with a hint of toasted barley malt. Not terribly overbearing. The hop aroma is not as accentuated as with most other Lagunitas IPA offerings.

The taste is balanced but almost inconsistent with the IPA branding. It has a lighter ale taste that has an extra kick of hops, but more malt presence than are in most IPAs. The finish is very balanced with a decent amount of hop bitterness. That would explain the 59 I.B.U. rating

Not as crisp as I expected. A bit heavy for an IPA but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Definitely let's you know that this is not your typical IPA. This is a bit more bold.

Overall a great beer, but if you're in the mood for a California-style IPA, keep searching. If you want a decent amount of piney hops and feeling adventurous, try this.

A - Poured fairly aggressively into a a tulip glass. Golden copper color with less head than anticipated given the pour and the style, about half inch. Foam dissipated quickly with less than average retention. Not much lacing.

S - Strong but not overwhelming piney hop aroma.

T - Strong hops but more malt than others of the same style. Good amount of alcohol up front that lingers for a little bit.

M - This is where this beer shines or doesn't according to your preference. Surprisingly carbonated in the beginning. The beer is thick and almost syrupy.

O - This beer is good if you like the style but I will probably not buy again. I prefer Lagunitas regular IPA.

This is my first attempt at rating a beer so...
