Damn lou91, WTF did you get this? Many thanks. Pours with very little head, body is ruby-brown with lots of sediment. Nose is vinuous, with a hint of chocolate malt, just a touch of butter. No hops.

Tastes damn good to me, sherry, and buttery chocolate raisin bread. Mouthfeel is thin compared some other barleywines, drinkability is helped by the fact that I cannot taste the alcohol in this beer.

Poured dark brown with a head of tight small bubbles – almost picture perfect with some sediment. Great nose - a subtle mix of sugar, malt and cocoa. This beer aged well with all the rich malt, hop bitterness, and chocolate undertones all in a very drinkable ale. There is almost no alcohol warmth and too drinkable if there is such a thing. Yum.

02/22/09- Received as a gift from...yes...Lou91. Back in 2005.

Presentation- 12oz bottled in late 1999 to celebrate the millenium. Poured into a Duvel glass.

Appearance- Lightly murky caramel colored pour. Vigorous pour yields a 1/2 inch dirty white head..fades quickly and leaves some minimal spotty lace.

Smell- The nose has mostly left this beer, but still has a nose of lightly sweet caramel malt.

Taste- Taste has held up pretty good considering. Caramely taste is the main flavor...you can tell it's a fading headed south caramel though. Hops suprisingly are somewhat here with a light bitter taste. Maybe a touch of vanilla as well.

Mouthfeel- Really smooth, lighty watery with very low carbonation.

Drinkability- Considering it's almost 10 years old, I would say this was pretty good. Flavor was still good as well as the overall feel of the beer. Glad I got to share this one rather than waiting another who knows how many years to drink this.
