Pours a super clear pale gold with lots of streaming bubbles under 2 fingers of dense white head that holds like mousse. Head lasts all the way down at 1/8" thick. Great lacing clings to the glass all the way down.

First thing to jump out of the glass is grainy malt, dry crackers, followed by mild floral hop notes. No diacetyl, no acetaldehyde. Touch of DMS.

Tastes of crackery malt, floral hops, and spicy hops, clean malt. Crisp and medium bitter finish that lingers. Mild vegetal notes, corn, DMS. No diacetyl, no acetaldehyde.

Medium light body, lots of carbonation dances on the tongue and tingles on the roof of the mouth. Semi-dry finish with balance towards bitterness.

Clean, crisp, wet, crackery malts, Noble hops, to the bitter and dry side, but not overly. Aside from the DMS, very close to style. Diacetyl is not evident, but low levels are part of the style. Easy drinking, and thirst quenching.

Pours a clear golden wiht a 1-finger creamy white head. Good retention, sticky on the glass. Not much carbonation rising.

Aroma is light. Some graininess. Sweet. Grass comes through.

Taste is of sweet bread malts. Light hops. Some citrus comes through in the middle. Dry.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and nicely cleansing.

Overall, a very drinkable beer. Sessionable, even with the ABV.

12 oz. bottle poured into pilsener
(April 22, 2014 bottling date -- six weeks "old")

L: perfect. not even a question. the 100% clear yellow brew is a factory churning up bubbles -- the effervescence is off the charts, so much so the beer looks like it's kicking off a CO2 nucleation point, but it's not. well over 1-inch head off standard to slightly hard pour, and the sticking and lacing is a work of art. Photos of this glass should hang in a museum.

S: grain, lemon, more lemon (but a flavor smell more than bitter/sour/tart smell -- candied lemon), saltine crackers, sour grain, alcohol ... frankly, it smells a lot like an adjunct lager

T: a harsh dirt-bitter/antiseptic alcohol taste ruins what is otherwise a standard pils roster of sweeter light malt and some earthy/spicy hops. it's hard to say what exactly that harsh bitter taste is because it's not like any other hop flavor I've had -- which is to say, if it IS hops, it sucks. at times it disappears and lets some great grainy, cracker flavors come through with some light sweetness and very earthy/black pepper hops ... there's no grass in this, nothing real "green" in the good hop flavor, just a solid bitter bite.

F: very sturdy and strong and despite the appearance of being over-carbonated, it's carbonation level is very nice ... needless to say, super drinkable

O: disappointing but not an overall disappointment. i'd hoped for better from Lagunitas, but the beer tastes cleaned out -- I don't know if it's the relatively higher ABV (6% -- high for a pilsener) or a filteration process or what, but it's quite antiseptic, very much like our Saint Arnolds brews in Texas. the taste suggests the brewer wanted to woo macro-brew drinkers, but I don't buy that with Lagunitas, so it's possible I'm missing something.

Props to them for brewing us a decent lager, but I can think of 10 pilseners I like better.

Poured from a bottle dated 337 (Dec. 3 I'm guessing) on May 31 on my front porch.

Bright, clear straw gold with white head that persists as a thin rim with some lacing.

Aroma is malt sweetness with mild Saaz hops, clean lager. Taste is Pils malt with some sweetness and moderate hops. Clean, moderately dry finish with mild lingering bitterness.

Medium body with no ethanol warmth. Medium carbonation.

Very smooth but with plenty of flavor. Nice.

12oz b ottle poured into a pils glass
A: Clear, light yellow with a lingering two-finger head and light carbonation
S: Light wheat, corn, biscuit and floral notes
T: Biscuit up front then fresh corn, wheat and light florals
M: Light-bodied, smooth
O: Fairly well made as far as pils go. Very clean flavors. I always prefer a bit more oopmh but for the style this is enjoyable
