look: 4.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

a: into a pils glass, big fluffy off white head fed by tons of bubbles rising from the bottom, slow recession and good lacing, golden hay in color

s: smells nice, pilsner malt gives a light-moderate sweetness, grassy hops, a little metal

m: carbonation just over medium, light-medium body

t: clean pilsner grains, clean barley sweetness, grassy hops, a slight metal flavor lingers, well bittered

d: no problem...nothing extraordinary and it could stand to be crisped up a touch, but a very solid and drinkable pilsner

single from Whole Foods Reston...been sitting there almost since I moved up, figured it was time

Thanks goes out to jctribe25 for this one.

Pours a nice clean/clear golden yellow color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy white head, with some sticky lacing to follow. The nose is malty, with some hops, and spicy. The taste is slightly sweet, malty/hoppy, with some nice spice notes. Medium body. Drinkable, this is a true to style brew from the L. Always nice to get a L brew, very afforable and tasty.

A - A nice straw color with a small head, nothing out of the ordinary. Leaves a little lacing.

S - A bit of honey sweetness with just a touch of grassy hops coming through

T - A nice crisp flavor with just a touch of sweetness and hops coming through. Very refreshing.

M - A bit underwhelming, the carbonation is right but the beer seems a little thin.

D - Very drinkable, would go with just about anything and is just a very refreshing tasty beer in general.

As a fan of Pilsners in general I was disappointed by this beer. I found that the taste was sweet almost like a macro rather than rich like say Staroprahmen. The complexity too was missing like spiciness and a muskiness and there was relatively low hop bitterness as well. The mouthfeel and drinkability were fine. Overall not interesting or compelling.

Nice foamy head, crystal clear pilzen yellow. Lots of carbonation. This looks like a golden carbonated twinkie

Smells of fresh grass, pale malts, not too hoppy. Like a hostess grass pie.

Full malt body, sweetness, not as hoppy as expected but nice hop finish. Kinda like a ding dong but instead of cream in the middle, hops.

Beautiful "beer" aftertaste, lingering hops. HoHo's are good.

Worth a try, good california shot at ze pilsener. Drink this with the hostess snowballs that come out around st. patricks day, they're green.

A- pours a light tangerine pale orange yellow tone, very small head that fades fast with no lacing.

S-sweet, sugary, maybe some honey scents, malty.

T-strong beginning, notes of grass and some citrus here and there, malts throughout. aftertaste lingers.

M- good carbonation, dry finish.

D- good pilsner, can Lagunitas make a bad beer? if so i haven't found it yet.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsner glass. Had a coppery color and slightly cloudy texture. A fairly large, long-lasting head. Good lacing.

S: Smelled mainly of malts, some mild hops and citrus elements.

T: Toasted malts, hops, citrus and some other spices. There was a kind of acidic quality that was off-putting at first, but gradually grew on me.

M: A pretty high amount of carbonation and a smooth finish. Above medium-bodied.

D: Overall, not a bad example of a pilsener. It didn't rock my world, but still, a well done beer.

A- This looks very clear and sort of similar to that of a macro lager.

S- There are some floral notes mixed with some light fruits. I smell a sort of a slight butter smell, like buttered bread. Very supprising considering the appearance looked too similar to macro lager.

T- I'm quite suprised by the taste. The buttered bread is more present in the taste. The floral notes are subtle but there. I think that this has a good taste, much better then I was thinking it was going to be.

M- Good feeling in the mouth, feels like a standard beer.

D- Same as above, easy to drink.

Pours a golden, yellow color with a real nice thick white head head. Nice nice lacing too. Aroma is pleasant: citrus fruits, grainy and grassy. I get a nice little lemon zing in the flavor followed by grassy bitter hops. Clean and refreshing. Solid brew.

An unexpected "extra" from a local beer run.
12oz. bottle into a tasting stange courtesy of the friendly neighborhood bottle purveyor.
FREE BEER!

A ~Clear, copper color with spirals of tight tiny bubbles. Nothing remarkable about the short lived, mediocre white head. Spotty, perforated patches of thin lace.

S ~ Overwhelmingly hops. Some damp, earthy, smokey background smells with rose petals & citrus rinds.

T ~ Pronounced sharp edges with little support from any malts diffused by the strong carbonation. Astringent & dry. A little grassy...

M ~ Sharp & thin bodied. A lingering, bitter, dry finish with a citrusy aftertaste.

D ~ Not my favorite style to begin with but most certainly worth the time. After all ~ it was FREE!

Poured into a tall Pilsner glass, yellowish-gold with a slight haze, foamy white head that disapates to consistent thin topping. Lots of bubbles and a little lacing left on the glass. Smells of grain, corn, muffins. Taste of corn, biscuits, straw, and grains, some hop bitterness on the finish. Decent body! Clean a crisp with a slightly dry finish. Very drinkable.

I got this in a beer trade at work and tried it that evening straight from the bottle.

Smells great when opened, but I personally don't care for the sharp, bitter taste. I made a cheese sandwich to neutralize it a bit - for me, this would be something I'd have to drink with a heavy meal.

Pours a pale gold with thick, retaining head.
Smells quite strongly for a pilsner; grassy, grainy, and with the yeast/barley/hop elements all coming through.
Hearty grain and hops come through in the initial flavor; light malts bring out sweetness and an overall earthy note gives it body. Nice breaded/biscuit character as well.
Crisp, refreshing & smooth in the mouth. A very subtle hop bite.
Very good example of the pilsner style...refreshing coming from the land of ho-bomb ales. This one is full of character and a must for those who are fans of a good pils.

This is probably one of my top five non-german brews, and certainly top ten overall. I would give a detailed description, but it would be a waste of time, this beer hits the mark in all catagories:Smell, drinkability, taste, mouthfeel, everything! My recommendation, buy it, you wont regret it.

Poured a dark golden yellow with a creamy, nice head that developed a nice laciness. Aroma was good, a nice floral aroma of hops with a hint of malts. The first taste was offensive, very bitter and metallic. I am glad I tried to finish because it actually was good, nice balance of hops. The texture was good, on the light side. This beer is very smooth, and could be a session beer.

Poured from a 12oz bottle. The beer was extremely clear, pale yellow colored, adequate head. The smell is sort of malty but not too strong, no Czech hops aromas come through. The taste is nice, slightly sweet, mostly malty and a little grassy, again no major impact from any hops that I can tell. Very drinkable as a lager but I guess I expected more hops out of the flavor, as it's called a Czech pilsner.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Appearance:
The beer is a very nice golden color - not too light or too dark. Head formation is at first great, but it fades quickly as carbonation slowly rises. There isn't really any lacing, but you can see bubbles stick to the side of the glass.

Smell:
This is a very "hoppy" beer - the scent is quite strong. It's not really pungent, but I can't detect too many scents other than the hops. There might be a tinge of pumpkin, but this might be misleading.

Taste:
Again, it's very "hoppy" but quite crisp. It's also quite bitter. There's a bit of an aftertaste that's - you guessed it - "hoppy." Overall, it's quite strong at the "suggested" temperature. There's kind of a lack of flavor balance, since I really can't taste anything other than the hops.

Mouthfeel:
Not watery, but definately not thick at all. The carbonation "stings" the tongue a bit, but in a good way. The bitterness really lingers.

Drinkability:
Goes down well, but not too smoothly - again it's that bitterness. It's not too bad once you get over that. However, I suppose it depends on whether or not you perfer this in your beer.

Summary:
Not too bad. It's a little more bitter than I usually like, but I typically don't have the pilsner styles too often. Relative to other pilsners I've had, this is one of the more bitter ones. It's not a bad beer, but I typically perfer more flavor variation; it seems to lack balance with anything else.

Pours a clear straw color, smallish white head leaves behind patchy lacing. Nice sweet, earthy/grainy aroma, cut with some pretty pungent floral hops. More sweet graininess in the taste, some crisp bitter hops, slight butter taste. Mouthfeel is crisp, maybe a little on the thin side, but pretty damn snappy and refreshing. I like this. An easy-drinker for sure, great compliment to lots of different meals, and really tasty.

Had on tap at the Moan and Dove. The drink had some patchy lacing with a generally dark amber appearance. A thin but balanced aroma of malts and hops. Just wish it was stronger. The taste was a medium-level bitterness that was really dry. Carbonation was crisp, giving it that dry aftertaste. Overall, not bad.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsener glass.

A: The beer is a light gold color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of grain, light malts and a good amount of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a dry & pale hops bitterness followed by a light malt sweetness. There doesn't seem to be a good balance though. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry.

D: Not very flavorful, goes down ok, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there isn't very much to this beer even considering that this is a style that doesn't get too complex.

12-ounce bottle poured into a weizen glass yields a golden-amber body capped with a finger of sudsy white foam that shrinks to a thin sheet and leaves very little lacing on the glass.

Smell is a little malty with a note of peppery spice.

Taste is sweet and pale malty with gingery hops and a note of white bread toast with butter.

Somewhat sticky finish; okay drinkability.

Consumed 07/01/08.

Pours a golden yellow into a pilsener glass, creating a two finger white head that slowly reduces to sticky lacing around the edges. Massive amounts of tiny bubbles rise continuously throughout the drinking.

Softly spicy aroma with a hint of "Belgian-ness" in the form of a very slight yeast character.

Properly thin body with clean flavor. Well carbonated on the tongue. A little grainy with soft spices and a restrained but notable bitterness on the finish. Flavor is very mild and agreeable. This is a thirst quencher.

As a well-executed craft/microbrew lager, this is head and shoulders above most of what's out there. While I'll have no trouble finishing this one, though, I'm in no hurry for another as Pilsener is just not a style I grok. However, there's just no comparison between this and a mass produced lager (BMC, Heineken, PBR, etc...): Lagunitas wins the flavor derby by a mile.

A: Gold color with above average clarity and a small amount of carbonation. Big foamy white head has good retention and leaves a nice lace.

S: Floral with aromas of grass, biscuits and pine.

T: Dry husky malt up front. Bitterness is spicy with coriander, clove and a touch of lemon. Very well balanced. Finishes slightly dry with a lingering spice.

M: Body feels substantial. Too thick for a Pils in my mind. Carbonation level is right.

D: Very good beer. Quite worthy of a revisit.

Pours a crystal clear honey gold. Fizzy head that dissapates quickly to a very thin ring. No lacing.
Light aroma, had to let it warm a bit to pick up the aromas. Some toasted bread, honey and subdued hops.
Flavors are light too. Sweet toasted bread hits the sides of the tongue with the subtle hops coming in at the end.
Light mouthfeel. Finishes clean and dry. Good carbonation.
Very drinkable. Light flavors, but it's not watery.
A great summer time beer. The flavors are quite subdued, but in a good way. This would be perfect for the cookout in the back yard.
