Black body with a red hue in the light while pouring, with a light beige khaki head about 1 finger thick which lasted a very long time, finally dissolving but leaving a very lacy ring.

Initial smell was a blast of sour with a back of coffee, after settling the smell is more coffee but you can get a hint of the sour.

Taste is bold dark roasted coffee taste with a lingering aftertaste of wood, rye bread, with a coffee flavor rolling throughout the two.

Not as creamy as I prefer my stouts, but not a bad consistency, more comparable to a smoothy than a milkshake.

This is pretty high ABV but you can't really tell, the alcohol is masked very well with the bold flavors.

From bottle into snifter

Almost pitch black with initially a 2 finger tan bony head from an aggressive pour which stuck around a great bit... on my second pour (less agressive) i managed to pour "the perfect pour" and got a nice 1 finger head.. left a ring that stuck for some time... some lacing and a thin skin atop...

Im not the best when It comes to picking up on smells and tastes and little nuances. . Mainly I get a big coffee smell with slight alcohol and the roughness of it...

Same with taste... a good stout base.. a little light at the start but gets bolder midway thru..big time coffee... almost espresso like... just bordering it.. very bold coffee but dosent overpower the base of the beer...

Mouthfeel is a dabber thin but its super creamy... nicely carbonated... not sticky or too heavy...

Overall for $4.99 and 9+% abv you simply cannot find a better deal.. lagunitas to me is damn cheap and great beer to boot.. great taste and I highly recommend. ..
