Pours from 22oz bottle with decent head, a small amount of which sticks around for the long haul leaving limited lacing in its wake and a pretty red amber colour. I believe that this is a very recent release (bottle claims it is limited, but I can't believe their unlimited relases are unlimited!) which arrived at Fred Meyer within the last week.

Smells both metalllic and herbal with a slight dairy influence.

There is an interesting interplay (actually more of war) here between hops which are leaning citrus and a brown sugar/alcohol flavour (this second element being somewhat reminiscent of the same brewery's Brown Shugga). I couldn't call this well balanced and the alcohol certainly isn't well disguised, but it is certainly an interesting brew, and is definitely worth the $2.69 I paid for it.

Pours an iced tea color with a copper hue and has minimal head - carbonation.

Smell has a light to moderate toasted caramel malt aroma with pine grapefruit hops and hints of red licorice.

A moderately sweet and bitter roasted caramel malt with pine grapefruit/lime hops and hints of maple, red licorice, and cola.

Medium bodied, dry and slightly syrupy texture, soft and lively carbonation, and a slight metallic finish.

Definite session beer for the pros.

New one from Lagunitas "Imperial Red",
Nice enough to look at deep amber with a nice frothy tan head.
Extremelly hoppy aroma..almost citric in its intensity ( no way is this beer only 40 IBUs as it say on the label.)
The taste is strange its starts off ok..piney/citric like a strong IPA..then it just falls apart into a metallic, sugary mess. weird.
Its ok on the palate to start..and then becomes cloying to the stage of being annoying.
Not great drinkability.
I really dont know what happened to this has all the ingredients to have been another good Lagunitas beer, but it just fell apart.
