Notes / Commercial Description:
Tropically Hoppy. Light, yet Full-Bodied. Bright and Citrusy. Word.

The magical, mystical 12th of Never is a blend of Old and New School hops that play bright citrus, rich coconut, and papaya-esque flavors, all on a solid stage of English puffed wheat. Tropically hoppy. Light, yet full-bodied. Bright and citrusy. The 12th of Never Ale is everything we’ve learned about making hop-forward beer expressed in a moderate voice. Pale, cold, slightly alcoholic and bitter. It’s all we know.

These 12oz mini-kegs (AKA cans) are an exciting new option for us, and we are stoopid stoked at the opportunity for y’all to take us to all those new, nelophobic locations…

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Lagunitas mason jar.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of off white head which settles into a thin patch.

Smell: A juicy and dank hop forward aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and pine. Upfront citrus hop scent of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, papaya, tangerine, and pineapple. Earthy and dank hop hints of pine resin and cannabis. Malt hints of wheat, grains, and cracker with yeast.

Taste: Like it smells, a juicy and dank hop driven taste with notes of tropical fruit and pine. Juicy upfront taste of citrus hops with notes of grapefruit, orange peel, papaya, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, tangerine, and pineapple. Earthy and herbal hop notes of pine resin and grass. Malt notes of wheat, grains, and cracker along with some yeast. Not really picking up any coconut. A very nice juicy taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and fairly oily with a drying finish.

Overall: A very good take on a Pale Ale. Very good juicy hop flavor with a moderate smooth body.

From a 12 oz can (with a blurred date code on the bottom) to a tulip glass.

A-The beer is quite light in color and clear. It is yellowish in hue with rusty golden tones. A fat finger of foam has good retention and leaves lots of fine lacing on the glass.

S-The aroma is heavy on the citrus notes. I sniff lime, mandarin orange, peach, mango, and a little bit of dried grass. Not much in the way of malt, but a little bread and cracker aromas trickle through the hops.

T-The taste is quite similar to the smell. Lightly tropical but more citrusy than anything else. The flavors are crisp and zesty rather than super juicy or dank. Bitterness is moderate with a little dried grass and pine to go with the citrus and light bread notes.

M-The body is on the light side with a hint of hoppy resinous character. Carbonation is fine to medium on my palate. For a pale ale, I could have used more heft and substance.

O-This is a good beer, but nothing that I would go out of my way to drink again. It reminds me somewhat of a session IPA in flavor and feel, which isn't necessarily a good thing, but if you want a zesty, orange-forward hoppy beer, this will fit the bill.

A: Pours a clear pale to medium golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and faint apricot colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of mottled medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer surrounded by a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of dank resinous and citrus/grapefruit hops over the top of light aromas of grainy malts.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of grainy malts with a light amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of dank resinous and citrus/grapefruit hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp but a hint thin/watery in the finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol, enjoyable, and refreshing - just shy of what I would call a session APA because of the ABV but I could easily enjoy a couple of these.

12 oz can, with some stuff stamped on the bottom that I can make no sense of.

Pours near clear, lighter near golden amber, light whispy off white head, that leaves some fine ringed lace.

Bright citric nose, with limes, grass and grapefruit.

Fresh tasting and boldly hopped with citrus coming to mind, also lemngrass, limes, pepper...nice n tasty...good stuff, well worth a try if ya can find a fresh sample
