Nice quality beer, but not a favorite. Poured in a pint glass. Hazy, Amber color, killer foam head. Heavy hops and heavy bitter. Overall nice quality, but not my personal preference. I'll go back to Lagunitas for their Pils.

On tap at Tap41. Great lacing and color, semi-hazy. Nose is just tons of hop - Citra, Cascade, Mosaic. Orange and grapefruit and floral notes everywhere. Flavor starts out like a sharp hoppy session IPA but tapers off immediately to a quaffable easy drinking floral and sweet malt treat. Nicely done. Recommended.

Clear amber colored beer with a medium sized off-white colored head. Very dark for a lager.

Smells strongly of northwest style c hops. Strong scents of pine and cedar chest. Some caramelized sugars and a weak caramel scent.

Starts out mildly sweet. Taste of roasted barley and pine board. Medium level of bitterness. Tastes more like ale than lager.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this tastes more like a red ale than a lager. Lagunitas can call it whatever but it isn't a lager so don't expect one when you buy it.

Came a caramel colored body with a rather fluffy off white head atop.Aromas upfront of caramel and dough with a assertive floral and citric hop shot,a little different but not bad.Caramel dominates the palate early with pine and and citrus-like hops hitting home in the finish.I liked the beer but the big hops might not be the best thing in the bock style, just my opinion.

Hazy red brown. Mix of caramel malt, toffee and aromatic hops. Good caramel and bread malt up front and then the dry hopped hops move in and I don’t like that. Good mouthfeel. Only worthy for a try.

Appearance; amber in color with a big bubbly head.

Smell: mild malt and earthy tones rise from the glass.

Taste: big malt profile with some dark fruits, some grass, and an earthy bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp from start to finish.

Overall: this was a good beer with a nice flavor profile. Slower sipping for me.

Picked up a bomber on 7-2-17 from TW Arrowhead for $4.99. Quick check reveals no bottle date.

Beer poured amber brown with a very nice off white head with the initial pour.

Nose is interesting with a piney and light citrus hop profile that dominates as the beer warms.

Taste is caramel laagered malts forward blending nicely with the pine and citrus hops that keep this nicely balanced.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall this is definitely an unconventional lager. If you are looking for traditional avoid. Tasty smooth brew for hop loving palettes.

Spotted this one at the local, thought I'd give Lagunitas another try.

7.9% (printed on my label) Bock, huh -- and with the "ator" moniker? Hmm. No clear dating on the bottle and the Lagunitas web site says it's available May thru June. Again, Hmm. Good news is that the store was keeping the bombers in the cooler.

Poured into my short Becher glass.

L -- Clear, deep copper color with a cream colored head that holds up well.

S -- Resiny hops, some light earthiness and citrus fruitiness. Not at all Bock- or Doppelbock-like.

T -- Herbal, resinous hop character up front with some light oxidation and a touch of meat tenderizer, some very thin biscuit malt fights the strong hop flavors, but *massive* malt character? It shows in the body, but not so much in the flavor. Bitter resins and some earthy, herbal characters linger thru the finish and aftertaste.

F -- Soft and syrupy with a lightly dry finish.

O -- The odd oxidation and meat tenderizer characters smooth out after a while, but the big Pacific Northwest hop aromas and flavors nix any semblance of a Bock or Doppelbock from this beer. It's more a cousin to Celebration than Celebrator.

Pours a copper color with 3 fingers of sand colored head. Stellar head retention & lacing

S: Rich breadyness, toffee & grassyness

T: Pears, leafy hops, grassyness & dryness up front. Grassyness, dryness, slight breadyness as this warms, woody bitterness too, faint toffee as well. Finishes dry, with leafy/woody hops & slight bready sweetness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Solid bock, well worth a try

Dark copper to amber in color with an inch of creamy and dense brown head. Moderate lacing. Lots of caramel and marzipan in the nose. I'm tasting a lot of marzipan and dark sourdough bready malt. The mouth is lightly sticky and very crisp.

In my pint glass it is a dark amber color. There is a modest size off-white head and a smattering of lace.
Malty aroma: molasses and brown sugar. There are some faint piney hops in the aroma.
Taste follows the nose. Molasses and brown sugar, with a hint of pine at the end.
Medium-bodied and sweet.

Nice that they played the first three letters of their brewery with Lager. Too bad they don't brew more lagers.
Poured from a bomber to a Pilz glass. No date found, FU Lagunitas, how can you avoid this for all your success?
For me, best looking beer of the month. Amber color, gorgeous head, fine lacing, tiny bubbles for the whole glass. Beutiful lacing to the bottom also. If it wasn't for the color I would swear this was a German Pilz.
Minimal aroma. Kind of sweet, but not in a malty sense.
Taste is clean with strong hop character, mild malt. Alcohol makes itself known. That's a good thing because you could slam this thing if it wasn't there as a reminder.
Pretty good beer all and all.

I am not abit surprised, but this bock is pretty inaccurate to the style and instantly recognizable as a Lagunitas brew. Why is that with nearly all their products?

It pours kind of golden (darker would be more accurate). It smells like Lagunitas.

The taste is malty, for sure, but mostly signature Lagunitas hops and water. The aftertaste lingers nice and bitter and malty on the tongue.

When I bought this I figured it would be a big Lag styled brew, and it neither surprised or disappointed.

Recommended, if you want a Lag styled beer that may be something like a bock.

Poured out a clear, burgundy color with a large, off-white head of foam. It smelled of caramel, toffee and roasted malt. A nice sweet, malty beer with just enough hop bitterness for balance.
