Poured from a growler filled last night at the brewery into a tulip glass.

A: Beautiful finger-and-a-half of head. Clear, red-amber.

S: Hops. Amber malt. Lots of hops. Pretty much what I expected from a "Large Red Ale."

T/M: I like it, but it's not exceptional. Lightly bitter, kind of thin, and a touch acidic. Citrusy hops are the most prominent, but there's a nice apple fruitiness. The endtaste is dry and kind of sickly. Nice carbonation still.

O: Pretty good imperial red -- recommended if you like the style. Would drink again.

A: Crimson marmalade is the closest color I could describe this Red Ale as. Head is very thick, persistent.

S: Intense barley aroma, very hoppy for a Red Ale. Grape leaves, Mediterranean scents.

T: An intense Red Ale, simple flavors. Tastiest Red Ale I've had in a long time. High alcohol content, but is mostly covered up by in-your-face, refined and high quality barley and hops. Some Red Ales borderline as Lagers--this is not even close to a lager. Tastes like a Christmas Seasonal Red Ale. Should I put mistletoe over this?

M: Full, very foamy. Little sourness when moved around. Just a really, SAVORY character. Every swig is savory. Possibly the best mouthful I've ever had.

O: Lucky 13's savory, rich and intense character is unique among Red Ales. Most Red Ales I've had straddle between a Lager and an actual Red Ale. Yeah, you're gonna get knocked the eff out by this brew. High alcohol content, generous amount of high quality ingredients. How have I not found this brew sooner?

The appearance on this beer is a nice red mixed with a little bit of amber. When poured, this beer produced about a two finger head.
The aroma is great for a red ale. I get a big hint of tangerine with big hops mixed in.
The taste on this beer is very smooth. Not very bitter from the hops but drinks well. At first, I get a very pleasant burst of citrus from those hops used. Middle of the mouth, I get big bready, yeast notes.
Overall, this is a fantastic beer. Lagunitas Brewing Co. is one that has never let me down with all of their beers. They have a knack for brewing and do it well. Keep it up guys!

Pours a deep hazy amber. Lots of foamy white head with massive lacing. Decent retention. Some visible carbonation

Smells like sweet caramel malts and some toastiness. There's some resinous pine hop character but it takes a backseat to the sweet malts

Taste follows the nose for the most part. Starts of with huge sweet caramel malts. A touch of brown sugar. Toasty bread. Then comes some big sticky pine and grass hops. Juicy and moderately bitter. Well-balanced while also showcasing extreme sweetness and big hop bitterness. Aftertaste is of pine

Feels very juicy. Pretty full-bodied. Slightly coating. Spicy carbonation

Overall another fantastic offering from Lagunitas. My current favorite amber. Very reminiscent of Troegs Nugget Nectar but a little sweeter. The ABV is very well-hidden. Affordable and delicious. Wish I had a case!

Orangish, amber, bronze color and mostly transparent. Solid head on the pour. Good retention and leaves clouds of lacing on the glass.

Caramel and malty rye bread aroma. Herbal, piney, floral hops in the mix also.

Sweet and smooth caramel and biscuit malt character. Dense and hearty in the malt department. Hops add the perfect balance with herbs, pine and garlic spice.

Rich body, medium to high viscosity without a syrupy texture. Well carbonated. Sticky from the malt and dry in the end from the hops. Very nice feel.

A superb red ale. About as good as it gets for the style. A masterfully crafted brew with its intriguing complexity and yet beautiful simplicity as all you taste in the end is malt and hops. Just phenomenal!

A - Poured into a pint glass. Clear and red copper in color. Only about 2mm of head which dissolves quickly. Fair amount of lacing.

S - Almost no aroma at all when in the bottle. After pouring, only a subtle whiff of caramel.

T - Deep malty caramel and piney hops balances the fairly high abv which washes in at the end. Great flavor.

M - Medium body with a dry finish. I found mine to be more carbonated than others reported and had belches to confirm it!

O - Very impressed but not surprised from such a great brewery. Very crisp and very drinkable. I'd have another if it weren't for the abv! My overall rating would be higher if it weren't for the lack of aroma.
I've been locked into IPAs for some time now but this was a much enjoyed departure. I will definitely be picking up more of these down the road.

A- a clear deep copper. Short lived tan head lingers for a while and leaves nice lacing

S- not much aroma that I could detect, which seems odd, given its taste (initially gave it a 2.5. The bottle pour I later had had notes of citrus and pine hops and some caramel sweetness. Moved up to current rating.)

T- sweet and nutty, with a nice hop pine bitterness on the finish

M- thinner and no carbonation (bottled version had a nice fullness to it. Not too heavy but just right)

O- a really and good unique beer
