Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high.

22oz bottle poured into a NB globe. No idea on the date :(
A: Poured beautifully...nice and smooth. Crisp and clear...lots of bubbles. Soft head with tight bubbles...about 2.5-3 fingers. Body looks rich and delicious.
S: One of the most intense grapefruit aromas I’ve experienced. I mean..it’s just sweet grapefruit. A tiny hint of sugar cookie. I’m struggling to pull much else from it. It’s nice though.
T: Starts a little sweet and then drops off into a long bitter spiral. Finish is aggressively bitter, but nothing that doesn’t keep you from going right back in for more. TBH, it seemed like I got a lot of the bitterness from the foam.
M: Very soft and plush. Not as abrasive as you might expect from something that has “102 IBU4U” featured on the label. Drinkability surprisingly high.
O: It’s fairly one-dimensional, but I think it may be designed that way. I really enjoyed this but I’d probably prefer to share the next bottle with a friend or two.

Lagunitas is stupid. This beer is disgusting and really sucks for how popular it is.

I wasn’t an IPA fan until a trip to California a few years ago. One of the best memories was a 22oz of the Hop Stoopid.
This batch (6 pack in Ohio) tastes nice and fresh. With this offering from Lagunitas, I actually like the smell better than the taste. There is a delightful pineapple scent.
This is a a tasty IPA that doesn’t disappoint!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Julian date of 0238, so appears to have been bottled in August of 2020. Quote a bit older than preferred, but here goes ..
Looks fantastic in the glass. Clear deep golden yellow body. Bright foamy white head persists in very good form throughout, leaving excellent lacing.
There is an aroma, pleasant, but hard to describe.
On tasting, it's strong, quite sweet, and although the hops have faded, there is still a hint of clean bitterness. The abv is apparent.
Mouth close to full, finish bittersweet.
Overall, at this age, still a decent drink. Will re-review if I find one fresh off the line and it's significantly different.
