Clean this mess up or else we'll all end up in jail...those test tubes and the scale...just get 'em all outta here..." He was referring to the complex super-critical-CO2 hop extraction equipment set up on the table in the lab across from the brewhouse. Hop extracts are for the BIG brewers, he thought - suitable only for crummy sub-standard and barely-passable industrial lagers, not the subtle and elegant craft beer made here. But wrong he was. The New Brewer does not eschew any possible inputs. In this case the mountain of extracts will replace the mountain of hop vegetative material in the kettle thus creating cleaner hop flavors and preventing the otherwise spinach-like mess of a kettle full of super-hopped wort from clogging up a pump or worse. The sensuous honey-like amber ooze was administered intravenously to the wort kettle and the sacrament was complete. Another kettle of Hop Stoopid is once again raised up and fermented on high.

(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer pours a golden amber color with a gentle carbonation of bubbles gliding through to a white meniscus of thick meringue.
S- This beer has a green leafy hop aroma with a strong pineapple weed smell and a nice pungent quality to it. The note of lightly toasted sweet malt wort comes through under the hops.
T- This beer has a sweet orange note that leads to a spicy hop and big grapefruit quality. That is soon overtaken by a full pungent bitterness that has a bit of an earthiness to it. The finish is a nice lingering of the bitter green hops. The malt flavors are buried underneath with some nice pale malt notes and a light sweetness to it.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with no alcohol heat until it warms. Then it does a nice job of enhancing the pungency of the hops.
D- This beer has big hops flavor that is more bold than complex but it does have nice supporting flavors to the grapefruit qualities.

Lagunitas is stupid. This beer is disgusting and really sucks for how popular it is.

I wasn’t an IPA fan until a trip to California a few years ago. One of the best memories was a 22oz of the Hop Stoopid.
This batch (6 pack in Ohio) tastes nice and fresh. With this offering from Lagunitas, I actually like the smell better than the taste. There is a delightful pineapple scent.
This is a a tasty IPA that doesn’t disappoint!

12oz bottle into a pint glass. Julian date of 0238, so appears to have been bottled in August of 2020. Quote a bit older than preferred, but here goes ..
Looks fantastic in the glass. Clear deep golden yellow body. Bright foamy white head persists in very good form throughout, leaving excellent lacing.
There is an aroma, pleasant, but hard to describe.
On tasting, it's strong, quite sweet, and although the hops have faded, there is still a hint of clean bitterness. The abv is apparent.
Mouth close to full, finish bittersweet.
Overall, at this age, still a decent drink. Will re-review if I find one fresh off the line and it's significantly different.
