Appearance: a nice orangish yellow. Pretty hazy and about a finger and a half of an off whey head that left behind a lacing on the edges

Smell: very tropical. Citrus mango and other fruits. Wonderful hoppy aroma.

Taste: opens up with a citrusy hop that blends with juicy mango taste. It has great lemony biscuit backbone to balance things out

Mouthfeel: hoppy but not astringent. Well hidden alcohol. And perfectly smooth

Overall: a fantastic imperial ipa. Easy to find cheap to buy and better than most of the competition

It's as if grapefruit juice, mango juice and a Corona Extra was combined to deliver this distinct flavor profile. It had a pronounced citrus flavor in the beginning. As I continued drinking, the citrus evolved into more of a hoppy/mild citrus constant. It had a pleasant aftertaste with a slight bitterness that reminded me of the grapefruit characteristic.

in my search for the perfect IPA, tonight I am drinking this vs. Bear Republic Racer 5 vs. Great Divide Hercules. I'll write se[arate reviews for each, but this is a very interesting comparison.

I poured the Hop Stoopid first, into a tall tulip glass. It has a lovely amber color and develops a nice head that quickly settles down. The flavor initially was sort of grassy, but as I got used to it, the fruit came forward and it has a unique piney aftertaste. There is not much malt flavor to speak of, especially compared to Bear Republic Racer 5, but it's more balanced than Great Divide Hercules...

I'll keep searching for the perfect IPA, haven't found it yet!

A: Poured out a crystal clear amber color. Noticeable amounts of bubble rising. Three plus fingers of white head wit solid retention and lacing.

S: Strong smells of grapefruit and pine, follow by slight floral and tropical fruit scents.

T: A splitting image of the nose. Also getting an earthy flavor similar to pine nuts. Very well balanced.

M: Pretty typical. Medium body and medium carbonation. Not very sticky which I'm actual digging.

O: A DIPA right up my alley. Plenty of complicity and nice balance. Cannot even tell it is 8% abv. My only gripe is that Lagunitas' rotating beers seem to be so similar in flavor. Regardless, it is hard to argue that when a beer is good, it is good.
