A: After pouring the brew in my Peticolas pint glass, it gives a rich, thick head about three fingers thick despite my gradual and tilted pour. The hops definitely create that lovely sud. It's got a nice golden amber hue, and it leaves some nice thick lacing on the sides.

S: Uh, yeah, you can certainly smell those 102 I.B.U.s of hops from here. In fact, the acridity may be a bit strong, and I'm not one to shy away from the lovely plants. Pine, citrus, freshly mown grass, and spiked grapefruit come to me on first sniff.

T: That fresh mown grass flavor carries on into the flavor, and it's got a decent carbonated bite to it. Smelt wheat comes to mind, too, and it leaves a dry, acrid aftertaste.

M: Because of the ridiculous hop levels, I surmise, it's got a nice thickness to it that is strangely still smooth and fairly light. It's hard to describe, but it's got good character here.

O: Honestly, it's not as high in quality as I had expected from Lagunitas, but it clearly does something unique here. I'd try it again.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter. First time I have had this in 4 years. Color is light orange gold with 2 finger white head. Nice retention with webbed lacing on my glass. The aroma is quite floral and citrusy with hints of light caramel malts in the background. Flavor follows the nose well with a mighty hop bite that is leveled from the sweeter malts. Perfect carbonation with a sticky medium fell and dry finish. Overall a a delicious IIPA that is welcome in the 12oz format.

Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber.

Appearance is honestly not very impressive. Crystal clear medium copper with basically no head at all. Only a tiny ring around the edge of the glass lets you know it is carbonated.

Aroma is out of this world. Tons and tons of hops. Lots of passionfruit/tropical citrus character with a little bit of mild grain underneath.

Flavor is, not surprisingly, nearly all hops. Huge tropical fruit character really carries this beer. A little bready malt underneath but it is very faint. Hops are king. Bitterness is not as high as I was expecting but is pleasantly assertive. The finish is slightly sticky but crisp.

Overall, not my favorite IIPA but in the top 5. For the price it really can't be beat. I would have liked to see a little more malt balance and complexity but I have a feeling this will become a regular in my fridge.

Drink this beer. You will not find a better ipa for the price. Seriously. You can spend the $4 and enjoy it. This beer is bitter. Super bitter. High alcohol. And ipa to the max. $8 beer will be put to shame 7/10 times. Don't think the price makes this less of a beer. Trust me.

Pours a beautiful amber honey color with a luscious thick white head that leaves a sticky lacing on the glass.
The smell is just phenomenal... hops and more piney hops... with pineapple, tangerine... wow!
The taste is even better.... hops and tropical fruits.... such a fantastic balance with the sweetness from the malts that make this such a well balanced ale. Such a smooth drinking DIPA that I cannot believe it is 102 ibu's.
For the price at $4... this comes out on top of most beers that are "stoopid" priced and over rated.
If you like IPAs ... go buy this... Hell, buy 5 for the price!! Most beers are so expensive that the sticker shock kills the quality ! haha
