Drank this on many occasions, always poured out of a 22oz. Bottle. Very consistent, not heavy for a DIPA. Almost too floral at first sip, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Medium body, clean finish, worth a try if you haven't already had it.

Poured from 22-ounce bottle into a stemless wine glass. Bottled three months before date sampled. Nice burst of pine resin and citrus zest upon opening. Very impressive in appearance, crystal-clear apple juice color with a fluffy white head and tons of lacing. Aromas and flavors of pine resin, citrus zest, and light bready malt. The hop character is somewhat subdued, with the malt sweetness providing some nice balance. The bitterness is there, but doesn't seem to be anywhere near the 102 IBU's claimed. Finish is clean, with a light bittersweet finish. Not the hop bomb I was expecting, but nicely balanced and very drinkable.

Clear copper with light orange hue. Mediocre head quickly fades.

Flavor is better after warming for a while. Initially it was overly carbonated with a biting sensation.... the second half is more balanced, with citrus notes enhanced by the malt profile.

Good but not great.

Pours a crystal clear golden orange.

Aroma is bright citrus, bit pine, resin, slightly dank and a hint of tropical notes.

Flavor starts off with bittersweet grapefruit, sweet, juicy orange, hint of peach and then pine, resin, dankness. Lots going on. Bit of caramel and sweet bready malts.

Medium bodied, crisp, clean, slightly creamy mouthfeel and NO hint of the alcohol. Too easy to drink.

A classic West Coast DIPA at only $9.99 for a 6-pack!!! Deal of the century!!

It just doesn't do it for me. The pour is a golden amber with a foam head that soon dissolves. The taste was piney but not piney enough. Abv is 8 but doesn't taste like it. It almost needed some extra kick to be considered hopped stoopid. Was expecting stronger hop flavor.

Wow. I was SO surprised by how good of a quality this one was. It's funny, because it happens to be one of Luganita's less spendy beers, but in my opinion, one of the very best that I've tried from them. It was a citrus, almost sour HOP-fest in my mouth, with a high-class taste to it that you just want to relish all the way down. You could easily see yourself drinking 2 or three bottles of these and I would recommend it too. Quite to my surprise, I've had the Equinox, and I just was saddened that it came nowhere near this beer. My recommendation is keep away from the bland, rather boring Equinox 'let-down' and pick up a bottle of the Hop Stoopid instead. You'll be glad you did!

Bomber into IPA glass. Pours clear, golden amber with1.5 finger head. Heavy lacing. Aroma is piney and dank. Taste when cold is a dank pine explosion with some residual booziness. As it warms, more balance is evident. Malty caramel notes balance the hops and booze. Much better warmer than ice cold. Mouthfeel is a little oily due to all of the hop resin but still nice. Overall, an excellent beer. Highly recommended.

Bold and balanced. A good floral and citrusy character with a good caramel malt backbone. The high IBU is well disguised and gives it a good drinkability. A classic west coast DIPA

App: Pours a clear amber with fluffy head as tall as you want on a hard pour. Head fades relatively quickly but lacing remains.
Smell: Not all that strong but a noticeable piney hop aroma.
Taste: The 102ABU on the bottle promises a hop forward taste which it has but it's not overpowering & a good malt balance keeps it from being too dry or bitter on the finish. Definitely some pine & floral, but also some fruit: tangerine, maybe mango/plum, lighter citrus/grapefruit.
Feel: Moderately full & milky smooth
Overall: A nice DIPA which rivals some of the best I've had. Definitely a great beer.

Very Underrated beer, this one is world class , solid piney fruity, refreshing ipa , bomber is $4 in my store and i grab one every time I go there to try new, has a taste of its own unlike almost all ipa's they mostly taste citrus and this one is unique !

Good double IPA, but sampled after Stone’s RuinTen, and it comes in second by far. Dark golden ion color, thin foamy head, light lacing. Aroma is sweet, citrusy hops. Taste is bitter with a metallic tang. Finish is short, but lingers on the palate. Very good, but there are better out there.

had this beer for the 4th or 5th time now and it is safe for me to say i am no longer impressed by this one from lagunitas.
it still looks and smells great, but i am getting a taste that resembles more of a rye ipa than a regular double.
dont get me wrong its still a great beer but IMO the maximus from lagunitas is definitely a superior beer to this one.

Neighbor brought over a hop stoopid....it poured a clear golden with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent is pine and sweet malt mix. The taste is a nice mix of sweet malt and pine bitterness. The Mouthfeel is fuller in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a solid beer.

L- pours a clear golden color with 2 fingers head on a partially aggressive pour.

S- pine, floral, grapefruit, citrus very strong smell. Smells amazing.

T- so well balanced. You get all of the delicious flavors you would want in an ipa and without a bitterness finish.
I would say that floral and citrus stand out the most.

F- mostly a dry finish with not much strong flavors left on the lips or tongue.

O- Great beer and at 3.99 here in oregon you just can't beat it. That will affect my overall score cause it's simply unbeatable at that price.

Look: Crystal clear, big head, light orange in color. Absolutely perfect looking beer.
Smell: Hop resin, light grapefruit, possibly some other cilight citrus smells in their (orange?)
Taste: Monster hop resin throughout, starts with a nice mild sweetness, ends with a piney/resiny bitterness, that is also sweet. Very light mango like tropical hop flavor. Some orange and grapefruit rind as it warms. As it warms more the flavor pops with grapefruit and orange citrus flavor.
Feel: Resiny coating at the end of each sip. Moderate carbonation, full mouthfeel.
OverallI had never had this beer fresh before. This one was 11 days old. Wow what a difference. This is an incredible beer. Absolutely delicious. Love it.

This was poured nice and fresh from tap into a pint jar. A clear golden yellow with beautiful head that stuck around and great curtain lacing. The smell is subdued but piney. The first taste was great! Huge grapefruit at first that settled down to a wonderful combination of citrus and piney hops. It had been a while since I had this beer, but I will not wait this long again. A classic!

Based on the date, this bomber is a month old--but Lagunitas doesn't make it easy to figure out, what with the modified Julian dating and black ink on a brown bottle. But it's way better than no date, for sure.

Pours a very clear copper-orange with a finger of dense foam. Bit of lacing. Smells of pine, grapefruit and some tropical fruits. After warming, the malt comes through along with a musty, earthy smell.

Taste is grapefruit pith and pine, with just enough sweet malt to add a counterpoint. Good stuff. Solid bitterness completes the picture.

Feel is medium-minus. Overall an enjoyable West Coast IIPA. I find Lagunitas' regular IPA to be extremely bland--this is much more up my alley.

This is an underrated beer. Love IPAs and this not a "different" IPA it's just as solid as it gets. The first thing I noticed was the foggy/honey color. The carbonation is great- almost as much carbonation as a Coke. I usually don't like that, but it makes the beer refreshing. The first taste is piney resin, then a satisfying bitter that isn't strong; mild bitter aftertaste for about 5 secs. All the tastes go together perfectly. It won't blow your mind, but it will be a great beer.

Had on draft at Lagunitas Taproom Chicago. This beer has that typical Laugnitas taste we all know w/ some nice citrus notes and a nice hopping finish that really makes you keep drinking more. There is a long bitter after taste that really doesn't cringe in your mouth, it's just there. This is definitely not my favorite offering from Lagunitas, but this hangs up with some of the great DIPAs.

Description: Bright, crystal clear apple juice color with clean white head and lacing. Smell is fresh and clean with notes of pine but an underlying fruit/sweetness. The taste has a crisp, dry, somewhat bitter finish but still has some fruit and sweetness throughout. The flavor isn't overwhelmingly strong, but in this case I don't think that really detracts from it; it's sort of a delicate, nuanced flavor. Mouthfeel is light, without much carbonation. Smooth for an IPA.

Suggested food pairing: Grilled salmon

If you like this beer then you should also try: Truth

Overall: 4.25 (This beer is good and I would likely drink it again) Given the name and the fact that is has a whole mess of IBUs, I expected this to be a hopbomb; I wasn't pleasantly surprised to find that it was not. Flavors were much more nuanced and complex than that. As always, Lagunitas turns out another great beer that I think would have wide appeal across the beer drinking world.

Bottle poured into a Lagunitas mason jar

A: Pours deep golden amber with a frothy tan head that settles to a dense layer and leaves some very nice lacing.

S: Pine and citrus, light tropical fruit, a little caramel sweetness, and a touch of biscuity malt.

T: Resinous pine, citrus, grapefruit zest, a little orange, floral notes, subtle tropical fruit, passion fruit and mango, biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Very drinkable for 8%

O: Maybe not my favorite Lagunitas brew, but still darn tasty. And a steal at $5/bomber.

Pours a crystal clear medium Amber with a two inch, well retained off white head which leaves excellent lacing. Smell is piney and grassy with orange notes. Taste follows the nose with some orange rind, tropical fruits and some malt sweetness. Bitter and dry, but not nearly as bitter as the IBU's would indicate. Mouthfeel is dry with light carbonation. Overall very good.

This beer was awesome when it first came out, but it seems to be suffering from a lack of bottle dating/freshness.

Comes out very light colored. Yellow. Nice 1/2" white head. Aroma can drop the hop oils quite pungent, but lately isn't all that.

Taste drops lots of Simcoe hops. Mouthfeel has a light toasted pale and oat body to it that really stands out when done well. Bomber only format sucks, don't know why they can't do this in 6 packs. Not as bitter or boozy as the label would lead you to think. Lots of tree like hop notes to it. When its in top form, its one of the best ipas out there, but on average, it has fallen into second (still very good) tier status.

Please bottle date & 6 pack this beer.
