Good lookin' beer. Clear as all get-out and containing equal shades of amber, brown, orange, and ruby. A fairly creamy light brown head tags along.
Sweet caramel malts and berries in the aroma, along with some bitter citrus hops.
Caramel malts bring a light sugary sweetness in the begining. Toasted malts soon join in, with a mild bitterness that flows through to the finish. A light amount of fruity berries and citrus fill in the gaps.
Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. The bubbles are slightly to large to give the optimal amount of creaminess to the mouthfeel.
A pretty solid brew. Found the mouthfeel slightly slacking. Not one of my favorites from this excellent brewing company, but definitely enjoyable.

This bottle has been hibernating at my house for quite a while, years I believe, but here goes; Pours a pretty murky, slightly golden dark brown color with a goodly oatmeal colored head and respectable lacing. The nose hit gives up a prune-tinged caramel and brown bread and Raisinettes and sweet fruit nougat. There's a hint of fermentation but overall this smells chewy and delectable, and I suspect there is some result from the aging I've allowed. The taste is a bit more grain heavy with maple walnut and more dark fruit ideas. I get some fermenting pineapple and more brown bread with a touch of milk chocolate here and there. It's medium-plus bodied with a fairly low testosterone carbonation and a bit of an aqueous feel, but I pick up some meatiness that's hard to place. Again, I feel the somewhat careless aging process has transformed this from the initial result, but I definitely enjoy it. Leaves a little alcohol burn which I imagine wasn't the case when this bottle was fresh off the retail shelf. I liked it, as I have the other Zappa series brews so far. In its present state I would say this comes a lot closer to some sort of barleywine than any typical American brown ale.
