Clear golden colored beer with a medium sized white colored head.

Strong Northwest style hops with strong mint and grapefruit scent. Clean smelling and mostly Pilsner malt. Scent of soda cracker.

Starts out sweet and savory. Tastes mostly of malt like it should. Distinct mint taste. Some grapefruit flavor. Caramel, nuts and vanilla flavors but quite subtle. Light hop bite.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall it is OK. Lagunitas REALLY should have used traditional hops for this style instead of throwing C-Type Hops in it anyway.

very cool that this is a collaboration with moonlight, but its among my least favorite lagunitas beers of all time, not because its bad, its not bad, but because it seems so uninspired, a slightly hoppy (as everything has to be from lagunitas) pale bock type, without a ton of character overall, i just expected a lot more from this, especially with moonlight in the mix, love what those guys do! quite pale, in the maibock tradition, sort of straw to very light orange tinted, a little bit cloudy but not unrefined, and its got a lasting inch of white head, airy and leaving lace in the wake of each sip. the nose is sort of nutty, a lot more from the grain than the color suggests, even a kind of long boiled concentrated intensity to it, without being super sugary, baked and warming and kind of rustic and hearty to me, cereals, organic, muffins, with a piney bitter hop profile thats just a little bold for the style, but not out of place. its a bit dried than expected, slightly peppery to me, and the yeast is more flavorful than in some other lagunitas lagers, perhaps thats the moonlight contribution. the flavor is similar, fuller and bigger feeling, good for late winter or very early spring, still snow on the ground, this has some meat on its bones, but again its not too sweet, makes this unique. something sags a little in the flavor through, right in the middle, its almost underdone, certainly underwhelming, like something is missing, the hops dont start till later, and the grain hits all right up front, so even though its cohesive and well made, its also sort of vacuous in the middle and as such doesnt quite satisfy like it should. herbal to close, not bitter enough to push through the malt, and it finishes pretty quick for the style too. good carbonation, a bit if a fuller body, almost seems protein rich, like there are some oats in it or something. weird beer, not as striking as anticipated from these two, and should probably be just a little better and more dynamic than it is, but still a neat deviation from the status quo...

Copper filtered with a little carbonation and four fingers of yellowish head.

Smells of malt, grapefruit, and caramel.

The Taste follows the nose.

Light body with a little carbonation.

I’m drinking this in Redding, October 31, 2019.

This is billed as a pale bock. 'Tis the season?
Looks like a pale ale, with a vigorous foaming. Hint of malt and caramel, assertive hopping dominates the body. Drying finish with just a touch of sweetness. Hoppy bock?

Clear yellow brew with an abundance of foam in the IPA glass. Mild and faintly fruity aroma with a grainy finish. Clean malty flavor. There's a hint of hops. Something like wintergreen with a note of apricot.

This is better than many Bock beers for not being overly sweet. It still has a nice malty mellow taste but it's enlivened by a bit of acidity. Just a slight bitterness, like grape seeds, in the aftertaste. It's all quite light and bright. From the 12 oz bottle purchased in the far Northwest.

Bottle poured into a Lagunitas Brewing Co mason jar

A: Pours golden yellow amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and leaves some thick lacing.

S: Yeasty, toasty bread, floral, fruity, hints of white wine, tropical and orchard fruit, and citrus, spicy herbal notes, and a little caramel sweetness.

T: First hits big time floral, opens to an interesting fruity side, white grape, apricot, peach, currant, papaya, and a hint of melon, citrus zest, tangerine and lemon, spicy, grassy, and herbal notes, toasty bready malt, and a little caramel and sweet cream.

M: Just a bit on the fuller side of medium body, somewhat lively carbonation.

O: I'm having fun with this one; it's pulling me all over the place. Nicely balanced, with plenty of bitterness and some fun notes from the hops, but I feel like it could stand to be just a bit lighter.

Picked up a 6 pack of this at Winco for $9. Not the biggest fan of bocks, but the price was right. Pours a good light amber and golden color. 3/4" white head. Good clarity. If there is something wrong with the appearance, I couldn't find it. Aroma had that nuttiness to it, impressive since there isn't exactly substantial roasting to the malt here, much less a nice lagery yeast presence.

Taste was, say, better than Dead Guy Ale (prolly the next most popular after Shiner's?). Still carried a slight caramel nutty presence, I didn't find it to be as hoppy as some people perceive. Good middle of the road breadiness. Carbonation was well done. I dunno, I think this is gonna be a positive rate deviation for me. There are no off flavors. I keep splitting these with people, I enjoy it 6oz at a time. At $1.25 a beer, its a good pickup, especially for people who don't like bitter/hoppy beer.

L: Light amber/copper in color. A slow and steady pour yielded a whopping 3 fingers of a dense and frothy cap that showed prosperous retention. Heaps of residual lacing coats the glass. Looks great.
S: Bready and malty on the nose with aromas of rose petals, pine cone, tree bark, raisin and cinnamon. It's a whirlwind of smells but it works.
T: Have to admit, I am let down by the flavor. The bready malt flavor is there, and it is somewhat sweet like Hawaiian bread. Finish has a citrusy floral concoction with slight sweetness that carries over to the aftertaste.
F: Really nice. Soft, smooth and easy to drink. My favorite part of this beer experience, apart from the appearance.
O: It goes without saying that I do not feel the need to drink this again, nor do I want to. I am glad to have tried it, but I expected more. But hey, that's the name of the game. I am very glad to try regardless, but I can't say that I recommend. Cheers!
