Very Good
Little Sumpin' HazyLittle Sumpin' Hazy
Notes: We're going au naturel for the summer with the classic wheatley-esque-ish-ness brew you know and love. With a special dry-hopping of Cashmere, Citra & Mosaic on a bed of Centennial and Chinook. Juicy, catty, and leaves you with a hop scratch that you can't help but tickle with another taste. Does that clear things up?

Sure, it's fun to throw one of those glossy layers over things... like that Juno Plasta Mandalorian Grain filter. You know, the one that whitens your teeth, lifts your cheekbones, and only shows your good side. And who doesn't love to sit back and geek out on all the tweakage. Like when ya dial up the Clarity, push the Digital Saturation to 11%, and pull back the Fromage Filter by 2x. Then go max out the Attractivo Settings, select a new vacay background and tag your favorite Dogfluencer for those little spikes of serotonin. But sometimes it's nice to let it all be the way it really is. Raw. Unfiltered. Au naturel.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, pale yellow color with a mild head. An SRM of 7. (3.75)

Aroma: Aromas of citrus, mango, pineapple. A little bit of sweet mango lingers. All fruit and no pine. (4.00)

Flavor: Flavors similar to nose with lots of pineapple and mango. It's juicy and airy. The mango provides a lingering sweetness, but overall it finishes balanced and relatively dry as expected. Some pithy pineapple bitterness lingers. (3.75)

Feel: Lighter-bodied, Sort of airy and creamy. Finishes clean and smooth. No astringency. (3.75)

Overall: A pretty good beer. Not sure how I should classify it as a NEIPA. It's hazy and fruity. Sort of unidimensional with pineapple and mango. Good flavors, but compared to the local dry-hopped beers, the flavors and body do not measure up. Milder for sure. For a macro brewery it's another decent attempt at the style. Affordable and good flavors, however once the juicy craze has ended this is the type of beer that might stick around. However, it's the strong juicy flavor with the creamy body that make it so popular so without that I don't know that an attenuated version, like this beer will be desirable as it doesn't meet the threshold of intensity that people want (Final Rating: 3.81)

Pours a barely hazy amber with billowing off-white head, a mess of lace trailing. Smell: ripe melon, peach candy, lime zest, tangerine and wheat biscuit in the back. Taste: lemon-lime, pine needles, tangerine, less-ripe melon, white peach. Another good IPA from Lagunitas. Is it hazy enough to proclaim HAZY? Maybe not, though it does nail the lightly fluffy body.

Hazy gold with a medium tall white colored head.

Smells like a pine tree growing oranges. Some flowery scents like a saison. Distinct smell of perfume.

Starts out dry and very citrus. Very dry, something like tasting orange extract on the tip of your finger. Very dry orange flavored ale.

Mouthfeel is light.

Overall this is the answer to too sweet and too hoppy IPA.

Pours a hazy yellow color, with a huge frothy, long lasting lacing head. Sweet, hopy aroma. Flavor is sweet then bitter, fruit and hop flavors. Good body and feel. Overall a very solid, fruity neipa.

12oz bottle, date stamped 180 9 2. Hazy yellow-orange body has a foamy off-white head that settles into a thin layer of froth. Earthy citrus pith aroma - orange and grapefruit perhaps; a bit dank and green. Bold hop forward flavors similar to the aroma: grapefruit, orange, earthy & grassy raw, green hop, passion fruit, melon, and some biscuity grain. Resinous medium body, moderate carbonation, finishes seemingly more bitter than thd 30ibu it is. This one is good, but not great. I enjoyed drinking it, so I'd probably get it again if the price was right.

Poured from a bottle ,almost hazy gold/dark yellow with white head leaving some bubbly lacing. Nose is mild citrus and tropical fruit ,grassy hops with a hint of wheat malt. Taste follows with a smooth and almost creamy dryish finish. Really tasty.

This beer pours a hazy golden straw color and has the most beautiful foamy white head imaginable. There are fruity/piney hop notes on the nose from the base Centennial/Chinook hops, and the Citra/Mosaic/Cashmere hops add dank notes and something that reminds me of Juicy Fruit chewing gum.

As I was ambling through the olfactory senses portion of this review, I was wondering to my beer nerd self if the Citra/Mosaic dry hopping was going to fit the iconic base beer hop profile, because Citra and Mosaic hops are both heavy “Alpha Male” hops, and Centennial and Chinook hops like their moment in the spotlight, too.

On the taste, the Citra/Mosaic hops indeed take the lead, and they play pretty nicely with the base hops, but they’re the slightest bit distracting. This tastes great, but not as great as the original, IMHO.

It is still worth seeking, though, and I’m glad I picked up a 6er. Cant wait to try the rest of them.

Lagunitas Brewing Co. "Little Sumpin' Hazy"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle coded "180 9 2 3948 1610"
$2.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: It's got the appropriately hazy yellow-gold body and fluffy bright white head on it. The aroma is not as bright as I thought it would be, but OK. It's citrusy and tropical with grapefruit and pineapple, a little bit yeasty, sweetish with golden malt, and... I'm not sure, there's something there that's a little on the edge of being unpleasant but it's not what I'd call "dankness". It's a minor note so it doesn't really matter; might just be some hop resin. The flavor follows the aroma with additional notes of orange and mango, and a little bit of pine, but without any added depth. It's still better than the aroma suggests it will be. It'd certainly make a good summer beer as it's juicy, not too bitter, and still dry in the finish with a little bit of fruitiness lingering shortly. The head has dropped by this point but it still maintains a thin but solid surface covering, and the lacing is quite nice. That's a 4.25 for me. In the mouth it's medium to medium-light in body and gently crisp-then-smooth. Nice. Overall it's pretty solid. I'd put it right up there with Sierra Nevada's version, but it's not as great as some of the true New England IPAs.
