A - Pours into my pint glass like golden straw, with about one and a half fingers of head that dissipates into a thin layer that leaves very nice lacing.

S - Love the hops, grapefruit and spice. Smells somewhat dry and bitter as well.

T - Very complex. Dry pine hops in the front with some spice that melt into a malty bitterness as it mellows on the palate.

M - Carbonation is right on with this brew. Nice and crisp with just the right amount of bitterness.

D - IPA meets hefeweizen, very drinkable, very delicious, enjoy!

Lovely golden orange, two fingers of head that lingers. Smell not strong. Taste complex, smooth, not too hoppy, long finish. Feel is creamy. Very enjoyable!

12oz bottle in pint glass. Not my usual style, but one of the best hop flavors I've had, and balanced tastefully against the rest. Delicious! Really easy drinking for a wheat. From the description it seems like maybe it's still 50% barley; maybe that's why.

12 ounce bottle purchased at package store in Westchester, NY.

Poured into a large wine glass. Nice dark peach color with a smallish one finger head, that soon will turn to mainly a white ring with some light white lilly pads on top of the beers body. It smells mainly like a typical wheat ale with some faint hops. However, upon taking a sip, it tastes more of those aformentioned hops while still maintaining the characteristics of a wheat ale, and some brown sugar there too. It tastes very good and is unique. The mouthfeel is a bit dry, a bit sweet, but leaves your palate eager to have some more of this Little Sumpin` from Lagunitas. This beer exceeded my expectations.

A-Somewhere in between wheat yellow and burnt amber. The liquid is very slightly hazy. The head is fluffy, pretty, and retains quite well. This beer has textbook lacing. Overall quite attractive.

S-Smell is better than expected. Surprisingly stiff hop aroma. Tropical fruits and a well integrated malt. Smells like an American IPA

T-Such a brilliant taste. Exceeded expectations. Very happy with this brew. Delicious light malty side is overpowered by the hoppy explosion. Very very tasty. Juicy tropical fruit flavors are stressed on the palate. Light spicy flavor rounds out the taste.

M-Well carbonated. Light bodied. Surprised by the hop factor. Seems too light to pack such flavor. The brew is not overly bitter but the tropic taste sticks and clings to your tongue.

D-Drinks like a dream. The surprisingly high ABV is hidden masterfully. This is supposedly a wheat ale? More like a sassy IPA.

Poured from a bottle into a SA Perfect Pint.

One word describes the color of this beer, gold. Eggshell colored fluffy 1.5 finger head rises and stays for quite a while, leaving some nice lacing.

Smell has fresh cut oranges and other citrusy hop notes.

Taste is a bit piney with some citrus rind up front but moves very quickly into just a light hop aftertaste that keeps you coming back for more.

Mouthfeel is smooth but a bit watery there's some nice fine carbonation throughout.

This beer is drinkable given the ABV, the alcohol makes its presence known but isn't overwhelming by any means.

A-Deep golden color...not much head..

S-Great aroma...big citrus (oranges, tangerines) and also a real fragrant floral hoppiness as well...not much wheat on the aroma but an awesome hop aroma..

T-The flavors are really impressive too....hops are perfumey and floral with some slight citrus....and then on the very long finish there is a fantastic wheat cracker flavor...hops definitely lead and produce nice hop burps..

M-Not much carbonation...some booziness evident...a splash of alcohol I guess you could say..

D-Might as well call this a wheat ipa....damn nice....much different than New Glarus's fantastic Cracked Wheat....this is more of an IPA base with some wheat where that one has more weizen characteristics along with the big hops...both are nice in their own ways...

Good deceived me at first smells like a single IPA but once you take your first sip you realize it's a pale ale. Not a huge fan of pale ales but this was good. Would I purchase this beer again most likely not, but that's mainly because I do not care for the pale ale style. Would I recommend this beer to someone who does enjoy pale ales.... Hell yes!

It's always a delight to see the slutty Sumpin' girl back on the shelves. But she should be holding two pineapples in front of her boobs, because this beer tastes and smells (judge Smells?) like pineapples. Delicious, delicious pineapples. Golden liquid pineapples with a fish-belly white foamy top. Oh pineapples, thank you for your flavor profile in this beer. And the zippy fun finish is a nice reminder of the slutty girl on the label.

A: 3/4" cream coloured head that left a nice lacing over straw coloured liquid with good clarity.

S: Citrus and malt.

T: Refreshing taste of citrusy hops and malt. Leaves a pleasant aftertaste that is somewhat faint.

M: Medium viscosity and medium level of fine carbonation.

O: A good ale that is somewhat sweet and malty. Very freshing and citrusy, this beer is an easy drinker.

A: Clear Light copper with large white head. Good retention and good lacing.

S: Decent dose of sweet malt and spicy hop upfront. Peach, pine needles, and oranges.

T: Pine and a grainy malt/bready sweetness. A very brief neutral grain note in the middle. Getting some peach and citrus. Orange and a little pine in the aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Good amount of dryness.

O: Good, well-rounded beer. Great price too. This beer will make its way into my rotation of 6 pk. purchases.

Pours a cloudy murky bright pale orange color. Lovely color and a nice 2 finger head is present. Big hopped up grapefruit aroma. Also some tropical fruit, maybe pineapple on the aroma. The aroma is very inviting and is dominated by the hops. Low smooth bitterness with a sweet hoppy finish. Loads of flavor, very tropical, citrusy, and overall just fruity. Finishes with a pleasant crisp sweetness. Solid mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. I love this beer, it has a little of everything. Its hoppy with fantastic flavor and aroma, but an overall low bitterness for such hop flavor. It drinks very well and I could always grab another after the first.

Pale Wheat, eh? Lagunitas' Web Site says it has a little "wheaty-esque-ish-ness." OK ...

It's a golden honey-straw color with great clarity and a nice two-finger frothy white head that drops to a layer of foam, leaving a nice lace in its wake. Lazy carbonation drifts to the top.

Aroma is of floral and citrusy hops, and a nice honey scent. Is Lagunitas spiking these beers with bee nectar, or what? Maybe it's just the wheat. A smidgen of banana, but not close to the level of a usual wheat. Middle ground between a wheat and an IPA. I dig it.

Taste doesn't quite live up to the promise of the nose, but it's still very nice. Some citrusy hops right at the beginning, then honey and some summery fruit characteristics; I'm getting a bit of peach and pear. That's followed with a decidedly bitter finish. Alcohol is hidden.

Medium creamy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, crisp finish. Again, very much toeing the line between IPA and wheat.

Drinkable as all hell. Lagunitas, please don't retire this one!

Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale
12 oz brown bottle
Limited Release
Served in a 20 oz tulip glass

Pours a honey golden yellow with a slight orange tint. Nice head on top that quickly transforms to a big ole' lace around the glassware that leaves trails of sticky lace on the side of the glass.

Sweet smellin' nose with whiffs of fruits, perhaps some citrus fruits and ripe apples.

Oh yeah, one of those beers I go in for a sip and before I know it, I'm going back in for more. Nicely complex with thisl dry wheat thing going on with a monster hop presence on the finish. Zesty, tart and sweet juice flavors. I dig that juicy peach and tart Granny Smith apple bite.

Imagine one of your favorite hoppy IPA's and a classic dry wheat beer having an offspring. Nicely crafted and mighty enjoyable.

Color is light amber to a dark shade of gold, and cloudy. Lots of lacing, but the moderate head fades fairly quickly. The smell is much like an APA or IPA - nice citrus notes. The wheat character of this beer comes through more in the taste, but the wheat definitely takes a back seat to the hops. There is just a touch of clove and lemon behind the surge of grapefruit. For my tastes, this beer strikes the perfect balance between a pale ale and a wheat.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours golden with a soft white head, nice lacing.

S: Vibrant orange and pine hop notes.

T: The great hop presence from the nose comes through in the flavour, mixing with the light wheat and bread to create a great flavour. Definitely hop dominated.

M: Smooth and refreshing, crisp, medium-bodied.

D: I liked this ale from Lagunitas a lot, I'm glad I finally got to try it, I just hope I can find a bottle around here. Clean, refreshing, would make a great summertime beer, cliche I know, but it's the truth.

12oz. bottle poured into a snifter.

A: Light golden/yellow/straw color. Faint haziness. Fluffy pure white head with great retention. Nice lacing.

S: Lots of citrus hops. Grapefruit mainly. Also pineapple, mango, light orange and lemon. Light caramel malts also.

T: Even though the nose is dominated by hops the first thing I get and continues throughout is sweet caramel malts. The malts must change the hops because I get almost not citrus. Instead a floral/soapy hop flavor. Finishes with a light bitterness and slight grapefruit sourness.

M: Maybe a tad light in body. Being a pale "wheat" ale I was hoping for thicker. It does got a nice creaminess tho.

O: Definitely a very tasty/VERY drinkable beer. Love the malts calming the bitterness down as much as it does. Although I do love the assault of hops every now and then.

Poured from Bottle into Pint glass.

Pours a radiant golden-orange with a finger of creamy white head that dissolves and remains a nice heavy layer around the glass. Aroma is fruity with grapefruit and various citrus, resiny hops and some sweet malts. Flavor is slightly citrusy with more grapefruit and tangerine, crisp bitterness and a sweet finish. Its light to medium bodied and has plenty of carbonation. I love the aroma of this beer, its booming with fruit and the flavor is just so damn clean. All around an extremely enjoyable brew.

This beer gets a significant bump for style comparisons. As an American IPA, it's probably a 4 pretty much across the board, maybe a 3.9 overall (a very good score in that no-holds-barred cage match of a style). However, there are very few good to excellent American Wheat beers made and a whole bunch of ok to mediocre ones. It's the unflavorful cousin of the noble German Hefeweizen and probably a testament to the tragedy of 20th century American brewing trends, which destroyed untold numbers of American wheat beers. Anyway, I like the idea of the style, but it's rarely executed well, although I imagine there are some fantastic homebrewed versions out there. A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' is not an incredibly inventive or shockingly great ale. It's just a simple beer with excellent hopping. Hopefully, I'll get to grade it down one day as the style improves. On to the beer...

The beer is a relatively pale, bright golden liquid with a good white head that sticks around for quite awhile. The nose has a strong pine/grapefruit aroma. It's a bit like a Sierra Nevada Torpedo mixed with a San Diego-style IPA. I always find hop bill descriptions hard; it's a fairly unique flavor with many variations. At any rate, this beer is aggressively hopped. It has a good level of bitterness. The grain does not get in the way of the hops all that much. I believe that there's wheat in there, but it's not a strong presence, just background noise at best. So, why not throw some wheat in your IPA? I'm not complaining.

Look: Clear gold with a nice white head that leaves a decent amount of lacing
Smell: Classic citrusy and piney fresh hop aromas
Taste: Somewhat sweet, lightly fruity, a bit of that wheaty dry bitterness combines with citric acidity in the finish
Feel: Light bodied, somewhat effervescent mouthfeel

Overall: The wheat seems to serve mostly to lighten the body and provide a lighter carbonation, though there is what might be a hint of wheat in the palate as well. A very nice, lightly sweet IPA

Poured a crystal clear golden color with a foamy 2 finger head. Left a decent amount of lacing on the glass.

Big hop aroma. Pine and grapefruit with a bit of a sweet aroma.

Taste follows the nose with pine and pink grapefruit up front balanced well by a sturdy malt backbone. Finishes with a nice lingering bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium and a little slick, goes down smooth. A little low on the carbonation, but it works well.

Overall this is another great beer from Lagunitas.

I think this is a great beer... This beer once was in the top 250.. How it dropped off, I have no idea. This beer is definitely one of the best Ale's I've tasted.. I don't want to compare it to Sucks but they are somewhat similar ... It has a misty golden look, nice hoppy ale taste..I love the label of the bottle... Old fashion looking.. Cheers!!!

12 oz

Pours a clear pale golden with a thin foamy white head. Nose is dominated by grapefruit hops, citrus and flowery auroma. Good notes of caramel malts. Taste is a chewy, bready malt upfront, some woody/grassy characteristics too. Sharp bitterness towards the finish which is dry in the mouthfeel. Smooth and medium bodied. Easy drinker here, my only regret is not getting a six pack.

App- Pours a golden amber color, with a 1/4 inch off-white head.
Lacing is moderate through the glass.

Smell- citrusy hops and some bready/malty tones

Taste- follows the aroma, citrusy with some sweetness from the malt coming through in the middle, and a bready taste at the end.

Mouthfeel is thick, a bit chewy, but not outside of the style.

Drinkability- This is a drink that is very solid in all aspects, not too heavy to be difficult to drink, and very balanced.

A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' has a clear yellow body with a moderate sized dense white head. Head has good retention and leaves heavy lacing. Aroma has a ton of bright citrus, most noticeably pineapple - the biggest pineapple aroma I have ever experienced. Also has mango and tangerine along with fluffy light white bread.

Taste starts with a bit of bread, then an explosion of pineapple, followed by a bunch of mango. Has a mango, pineapple, and tangerine finish, crisp citrusy and light bread aftertaste. Has an above average heaviness with a bit of creaminess, above average carbonation compliments beer nicely.
