(12 oz bottle, 173 7 2... poured into my Chouffe tulip)

L: crystal-clear gold liquid; tall, tight, kind of mousse/frothy foam atop - very lovely... some chunky scabs of lace, spitty collar

S: orange and grapefruit flesh, hint of graham crackery spice... perimeter essence of pineapple (acids)... perhaps some mint faintly in the background, soft ethanol... faint hint of candy bar caramel and dried ginger... overall, quite potent, dominant citrus and floral character

T: caramel, menthol, dried grapefruit peel... caramelized flavors, but relatively low sweetness... surprising (but not surprising) bold malt presence, but it dies quickly in the finish, which leaves little malt flavor compared to initial contact... fragrant citrus peel and leafy bitter flavor most dominant in aftertaste, bit of sugar cookie sneaks in there later

F: strangely, no bitter bite upon the tongue, but a potent pith-y numbness on the roof of the mouth, mellow heat... back end has a remarkable vaporizing vanish... light-bodied core; delicately-plush, powdery-resiny texture... like a fluffy liqueur

O: mellow but meaty caramel and pungent citrus rind at center here... the dry and bitter finish is the other stand out quality... elegant drinking, but overall lacking dimension - sharp, shrill static; two-tone layering

12 FLUID OUNCE bottle
Served in a teku glass

This beer pours a brilliant amber color with golden highlights. It is topped with two inches of eggshell head that leaves some lacing rings.

The smell is sweet and citrusy. It is a little dank and has hints of melon.

The flavor begins a little sweet. Then I get citrus and tropical fruit. Then I get some dankness and finally some pine in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel

For some reason I buy very little Lagunitas beer even though I have liked pretty much everything that I have had from them. This is a very solid, good tasting DIPA. I am quite happy with my purchase of a six pack.

12oz bottled 6/28/17 Chicago poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 8.7% ABV 72 IBU. The beer pours a mostly bright honey caramel color with sticky khaki colored head. Lacing is prevalent from the top of the glass as the head falls to a 1/4" cap. The aroma is sweet caramel malt and citrus but it's subdued. Taste starts with some sweet citrusy malt and then hits orange, grapefruit and honey flavors before leaving a subtle piney coating after the swallow. Bitterness is in exact balance to the malt with neither overwhelming the other. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry. There is some hop oil finish on the end. Overall, very good. I am a fan of Lagunitas hoppy beers and enjoy their signature flavor that comes from their yeast (or whatever else they do). This is an enjoyable west coast DIPA with a unique twist.

L: Clear amber color, thick soapy head with great retention.

S: Very aromatic. Floral, pine, and citrus.

T: Very much like the nose, it has very strong flavors. Floral, citrus rind, some light malt and wheat as well.

F: Smooth and oily. Finishes slightly bitter but has plenty of sweetness to balance it out.

O: Simply put, that's a great brew. Intense but well balanced flavor, and one of the best smelling IPAs I've ever had.

L. Clear bright orange, nice foamy head which leaves a film with bigger bubbles.
S. Classic Lagunitas. All kinds of citrus fruit laced with pine needles, gentle bready undertones.
T. Bitter pine, lemon, orange, lime, pineapple, finishing toward grapefruit, carried by an almost-too-sweet bready malt undercurrent. Nice bitterness with nice balance.
F. Pretty full body, resinous finish.
O. Really satisfying IIPA which stops just short of too much body and sweetness. Pretty darn good. Life is uncertain, don't sip. Cheers!!

On tap:
Not the first of these, but time to review...

A very clear amber-orange with a nice sustaining white head. Lacing in streams is pretty nice.

Candied orange sweetness with a little honey. A light pith/pine tree bitterness behind.

Taste isn't as sweet as nose indicated, but has a clean heavy cracker malt opening. The pithy citrus note comes next. Clean with a nice very light bite of carbonation and perhaps alcohol. Similarly clean finish that has a light pine wood bitterness.

Just a nice, classic DIPA. You could throw a tad more bitterness at this, if I had to choose something.

This beer has a wonderful fruity hop aroma and fruit/citrus hop flavor with some bitterness, but is well balanced with a nice malt body. The high alcohol content is well hidden. Very refreshing and excellent beer, better than many by Lagunitas--and that is saying something!

Pours a nice clear deep gold with a small white head. Smells of grapefruit, hops, malt, and citrus zest. Tastes of grapefruit, slightly bitter and fresh hops, malt, and caramel. Medium in body and carbonation. Overall this is one of the best IPAs and overall beer by Lagunitas that I've ever had. And that's saying something since they're one of my favorite breweries. Really surprised by how awesome this one was.

Pours an orange /amber into fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Scant half finger head that is gone in seconds. Nice lacing.

Big citrus on the nose consisting of ruby red grapefruit, orange and pineapple.

Taste is crisp and sweet. Grapefruit. orange and pineapple dominate. Touch of resinous pine. Caramel malts provide provide an excellent balance.. Toasted malts provide for a sturdy backbone. Not boozy at all.

Medium light mouthfeel. Good carbonation.

Very good Imperial IPA. Lagunitas has another winner.

Pours a burnt orange/amber color with a frothy white head and sticky lacing (one finished glass I left out all night was still covered in foam the next morning).

Smells like fresh bread, pine, and a tangerine-like citrus.

Taste is a trinity of bready malts, resinous sweetness, and hop bitterness. At its worst I think the bread and biscuit taste notes overpower the vague citrusy ones, but at its best I think there's a(n intense) happy marriage of malt backbone and hops. Definitely a beer best enjoyed cold, when the citrus--tangerine, grapefuit--and floral tastes are most present. Don't sip!

This beer pours a clear rich gold with a solid head. The aroma is crisp and fresh, with grapefruit peel, pine, pineapple, orange peel, mango, dried apricots, peaches, and bitter lemon. The flavor is birght and robust, with a solid blast of bitterness. There are notes grapefruit, dried mango, peach, caramel, and pineapple. The mouthfeel is reasonably full bodied with strong, fizzy carbonation. Overall this is an excellent beer - well within Lagunitas home style, and excellent.

Pours near clear golden with an initial froth that fades quickly to a ring. Aroma is amazing - bread dough, biscuit, a slight sweet of citrus. I could sniff this all day. Flavor brings more hop punch to the mix with the start of the sip with more citrus character and a hint of pine. Unlike so many current dipas, this mild bitter tang is very well balanced by a never-overdone malt backbone, near perfect in the balance to remain smooth and only medium-bodied. Finish is incredibly smooth, a slight sweet fades to a lasting mild bitter, insisting on another sip. The smoothness and drinkability is remarkable.
