Pours near clear golden with an initial froth that fades quickly to a ring. Aroma is amazing - bread dough, biscuit, a slight sweet of citrus. I could sniff this all day. Flavor brings more hop punch to the mix with the start of the sip with more citrus character and a hint of pine. Unlike so many current dipas, this mild bitter tang is very well balanced by a never-overdone malt backbone, near perfect in the balance to remain smooth and only medium-bodied. Finish is incredibly smooth, a slight sweet fades to a lasting mild bitter, insisting on another sip. The smoothness and drinkability is remarkable.

Hmmm... DIPA? Sign me up! Shaker pint pour for $3.00 (whoa!!) at The Nashua Garden during Happy Hour.

Pours a rich, mostly clear, medium golden color. Has sparse carbo and a frothy white head. Lacing is all over, covering nicely. Aroma is a smidge bready and toasty before turning to the hop side, where semi-sweet citrus lays it on. It is rather smooth, with a solid medium body.

Taste is also lightly toasty with subtle sweetness. Then we go hoppy once more. A touch of tangerine and apricot first off with some honey action. Then a bit of pithy grapefruit and pineapple. Toss in a bit of resiny pine and some herbal notes, and you're there! Very well balanced and drinkable, even at 8.5% ABV.... Prosit!!

10 oz. mason jar at Lagunitas tap room in Petaluma. Golden, clear, 1/4 inch head, holds on a little while and leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is hops, grapefruit, citrus. Taste is complex, different flavors. Fruit, wheat. Toast, a little nuttiness, a lot of citrus. Nice pleasant wheat double ipa. I ordered a second one. ☺️

12 oz. bottle

Pours clear amber gold with a creamy white foam head. Smells like nutty caramel, toasty wheat, candied papaya, sweet orange citrus, red grapefruit, mango, guava, passionfruit, pineapple, gooseberry, peppery spice, with earthy herbal grassy resinous pine. Tastes like nutty caramelized malts, toasty wheat, candied papaya, sweet orange pith, red grapefruit, mango, guava, passionfruit, pineapple, gooseberry, peppery spice, with bitter earthy herbal grassy resinous pine. Feels medium bodied, thick and creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice imperial wheat IPA.

This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a semi-hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some messy semi-thick lacing. The smell started off with sweet grapefruit pulp that rides over a sly sweet wheat base and ends up allowing sweet lemon to blend nicely. The taste was mainly sweet with low bitterness of lemon rind trying to make a playful balance, yet just graces it all underneath. There’s a sweet lemon to sly wheat (semi-sweet). On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the sweet wheat to make an effort to come forward. Overall, this was a pretty good DIPA that I could have again.

Bought this by accident from a sketchy liquor store in North Philadelphia while traveling. I thought, "Great! Little Sumpin' Sumpin'," one of my then favorites. Perhaps it was the bleak surroundings. Perhaps it was the fact that I had to pay through bullet proof glass. Perhaps it was the many patrons' affinity for St. Ides, but this struck me as a craft malt liquor. Others seem to like it, but it just wasn't my thing at the time. Maybe a different environment would improve it for me.

And let me be clear: I often enjoy double IPAs.
