5/5  rDev +19.3%
look: 5 | smell: 5 | taste: 5 | feel: 5 | overall: 5

12 oz. bottle poured into a 5 Rabbit can glass.

Look - Nice fluffy head that settles to nice lacing on top of the beer. Leave a nice trail on the side of the glass as you drink it. Hazy orange/amber/honey color as you hold the glass up to the light.
Smell - Citrus, dank hopiness, tropical fruity, too. Hint of mango, perhaps.
Taste - Sweet notes of pine, citrus rind and juice , a bit o' honey before going into a slight bready/biscuity finish. You have no idea that you are drinking a 8.50% ABV beer.
Feel - Carbonation to tickle the tongue with creamy sidenote.
Overall - This beer is an amazing example of an Imperial IPA. I know I didn't use "proper" glassware when review this beer, but it is such a solid brew that it's good points shine through in any glass. I will be looking forward to it's place in the Lagunitas rotation for years to come.

Really great offering from Lagunitas. The initial flavor is a nice mix of tropical, pine, and citrus, while the finish is well balanced and starts slightly sweet and then fades into a biscuity aftertaste. This beer has a velvety mouthfeel and the ABV is pretty well hidden under the wonderful complex flavors.

One of my favorite beers by far in the world of Ales is the Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’, but I stumbled across this big sister version called Little Sumpin’ Extra and I was hoping that they kept the strong pine and citrus notes that I loved so thoroughly in the little sister version. I poured this one into a tall glass and was pleased to immediately smell the strong pine and citrus notes from this beauty. It boasts an 8.5% ABV and 72 IBUs which are both elevated compared to the little sister version.

Look-Pours a crystal clear light golden color and a tiny snow-capped foamy head. It has obvious carbonation trails making their way to the top.

Smell-It smells of piney hops, but is very unique, because it also has a noticeable warmth to it and tropical fruits and banana. I was very pleasantly surprised to smell these in the Little Sumpin’ extra ale.

Taste-With a wheat tinge from the yeast and a strong pine base, this brew also delivers a grapefruit, pineapple, and orange peel zest citrus component that is perfect. It has a bready malt sweetness and a floral hop component that plays so well with the pine base.

Mouthfeel-Most IPAs are ruined by an overly sweet syrupiness that kills the hoppy mood. This brew, however, is so well-balanced and attenuated that it allows those hop oils, flavors, and mouthfeels to shine through. I am also able to pick up on so many different flavors thanks to the medium-bodied maltiness.

Overall-The main component of this beer was how it compared to the little sister version that I am so familiar with. This Little Sumpin’ Extra variety, however, really delivered something new and fresh, because of the fine-tuned hops and easily discernible fruity component and clovers. It had a more refreshing rinse and a tampered sweetness that really boasts an excellent Ale. Thank you, Lagunitas!

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass and a bottled date of July 9, 2015.

Appearance: Pours a a pale amber with 1/2 finger of white head

Smell: Piney and earthy hops

Taste: Balance between wheat esters and spruce-like hops

Mouthfeel: Bitter finish and light body

Overall: Very similar to regular Little sumpin sumpin. As with the former, the strength is well hidden and the combination of wheat and hoppy bitterness is well balanced and refreshing.

Just a really great balance between hops and malt. Very refreshing beer despite the abv which I hardly noticed.Slightly sweet taste that ends dry and hoppy. Love the label also.
My favorite of the Sumpins line.

Pours a very pretty clear golden amber with a two finger bone white head that recedes into an almost nitro-style bubble film on top of about half a finger. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom. Smells slightly breast, with some hops, and a slight alcohol scent. Taste is reflective of the smell, though with a small alcohol burn at the end of each sip. It isn't off putting, it's actually pretty pleasant, just to remind you of it. The mouthfeel is medium, carbonated well, though it fades relatively quickly (~5 minutes after pouring).

This is a good beer and I would buy it again.

I hate this new review system. I guess I have to write one hundred and fifty characters. So what I will say is little sumpin extra is really damn good. Stop making me write 150 character reviews at bars and such BA.

If I had one word to sum up this beer it would either be "unique" or "different". Unlike other beers you get an onionish smell with a grassy taste but it's not offensive in any way. Much better than the og little sumpin sumpin imo. Quite pleased with this find :)
